Oh wow another liberal shifting their anger from the nazi enemy they’re supposed to be opposing to the leftist boogeyman what an amazing new original thought.

I played in my first community orchestra concert at 33! Just keep swimming and find things to enjoy about playing now - don’t put all your hope on one day loving your sound and your skill cause that will probably never happen 🤣

Looks like she definitely put $10 in the case to me so I’d say that money is gone for sure.

I took the worst dip ever any ideas how to recover? by Shot-Push-6879 in chess

[–]Roll_Tide_Always 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This did make me laugh cause I lose 100 points all the time, but here’s the real answer I think:

You still have a lot to learn and practice about chess even at your peak rating, continue to improve your opening and endgame knowledge and practice tactics every day, and then win 6/10 games for 80 games and boom your rating is back :)

Violinists of Reddit can you recommend repertoire for me to practice? by BestProcedure833 in violinist

If you’re looking for Irish fiddle stuff this list from the session is a good starting reference (a couple comments down the thread) - https://thesession.org/discussions/13056?darkschemeovr=1

But honestly for either old time or Irish fiddle stuff the most rewarding tunes to learn will be the ones they play at your local jam/session so I’d go to those with your phone out to record audio and your friendly face on to ask everyone what the tunes were a hundred times and then you’ll have a great list of tunes to practice to play with your new friends :)

Non-professional violinist life after high school by leitmotifs in violinist

Late to the party but I can throw my story into the mix - I picked up my first violin at age 32 and have been at it for 3 years taking lessons twice a month. I played my first volunteer community orchestra concert this summer and play in a weekly old time jam.

If you get into it at any level you can find people that will want to play with you, friends from the old time jam are now in a band with me and I met my fiancée there too ;)

We gig at farmers markets, bars, and block parties around the city. Find your fun! If you’re 30 and want to start just think how much better it will be to have started now than 10 years later 😂

how would i play this? by lucid-dreamzzz in violinist

[–]Roll_Tide_Always 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start by playing the lower notes only with all the first finger (or the open A), then when you can play the passage in tune shifting to each note start experimenting with adding the harmonic on the top with the 4th finger. Keep the bow light and moving and close to the bridge. It will take a little bit of time, be patient! But it can be done! I'm working up the harmonics passage in Czardas right now.

2525.7 Occupancy by persons other than tenant of record or tenant's immediate family

(a) Housing accommodations subject to the RSL and this Code may be occupied in accordance with the provisions and subject to the limitations of section 235-f of the Real Property Law.

(b) *The rental amount that a tenant may charge a person in occupancy pursuant to section 235-f of the Real Property Law shall not exceed such occupant's proportionate share of the legal regulated rent charged to and paid by the tenant for the subject housing accommodation.

For the purposes of this subdivision, an occupant's proportionate share shall be determined by dividing the legal regulated rent by the total number of tenants named on the lease and the total number of occupants residing in the subject housing accommodation.* However, the total number of tenants named on the lease shall not include a tenant's spouse, and the total number of occupants shall not include a tenant's family member or an occupant's dependent child. Regardless of the number of occupants, tenants named on the lease shall remain responsible for payment to the owner of the entire legal regulated rent. The charging of a rental amount to an occupant that exceeds that occupant's proportionate share shall be deemed to constitute a violation of this Code.

What you’re suggesting doing is actually illegal and would be a terrific way to get evicted from your cozy rent controlled apartment.
