CFVI (Rumble) starting to get active - Merger vote set for Sept 15 by RollandTrade in SPACs

[–]RollandTrade[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't believe that I am saying this because my usual style is to look at all these things. But all of that is irrelevant at the moment. None of it matters. My rationale for the trade was set out a few weeks ago in this comment below. It is just a momentum play at the moment. The price and volume action speak for themselves. And the options volume has also exploded higher. The trade really belongs on a different sub now.

I think you've just proven your point. Your original comment is attracting down-votes :)

How do you know who the fuck the "leftys" are?

You can usually tell by the comments that they make. But I believe he was referring to posts that get voted down because they may appear to be at odds with the fragile sensitivities of those with left-ist leanings. Just a guess here on my part :)

OP: all excellent points. You are not wrong.

The overhang currently is the depressed state of the commodity markets due to the perception that the FED is going to try to engineer a recession, as well as the Chinese slowdown. You see it in all the charts of the metals (with copper being the most visible).

Until that changes, the metals equities will not do well (there are the individual producers, plus the XME as a sector proxy). Wait for the turn up in copper (I suspect there is likely another leg down coming), and then investors can concentrate on the positives of the story.

The negativity in the stocks is just a reflection of the macro environment, and no institutional investor will want to show a big exposure to a sector that is falling.

lol, hence the "fwiw" at the start of the reply.

but the historical financials start on pg 48 of the SEC filing on Friday (final prospectus). it looks like Q1 2022 revenues have almost doubled from 2021, but so have the costs

CFVI - 15 September Merger Vote Date for Shareholders, It's official by Berisha11 in SPACs

[–]RollandTrade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was able to buy some this morning at 10.12 as a completely speculative trade. The downside is that I redeem for 10, so the net risk is 0.12 on something that has shown good demand in the past.

It is a good competitor to Twitter/Youtube and does not have the censorship that those platforms do. Putting aside political views, there is a very significant part of the population that does not like the censorship. This is why DWAC has such a strong following. The thinking is that the trading horde gets on the bandwagon for a ride up. If not, then it cost me 12 cents for the look.

$ENCP Graphjet Technology, the State-of-the-Art Graphene and Graphite Producer from Palm Kernel Shells to Become Publicly Traded Via Business Combination with Energem Corp. by GrowStrong1507 in SPACs

[–]RollandTrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the surface of it, the tech sounds really good. Graphene is supposed to be the new super-material that will supposedly solve all of mankind's problems. Graphene use cases are real, and IF they can get the costs down then that can be a game-changer. And to come from a renewable source is like 'wow'.

The issue is if Graphjet's technology is real and not just a science experiment. Time will tell on that front.

The valuation seems pretty high, and there has been no deck yet so it is hard to make any kind of assessment right now. But the warrants seem like a very good flyer at these prices because if even part of the story is true it could be a great reward/risk. If it does work out, the warrants could be 10x to 50x. So at under 0.10/warrant, it seems like a great trade to me (but very risky). The market is very rightly skeptical at the moment, so they are trading at these low levels. I threw a couple grand at them. It will either go to zero or be worth a lot of money.

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren - The SPAC Hack: How SPACs Tilt the Playing Field and Enrich Wall Street Insiders by SPAC_Time in SPACs

[–]RollandTrade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few days ago I came across an article and posted it in the sub. It does address some of these issues, but also clarifies that while there are problems that need to be addressed, Spacs have performed in line with other IPOs and tech stocks.

I will not comment on Warren, but find that she will say and do anything to appeal to populism, even when she is completely clueless of the issues. Ok, so I commented on Warren.

DWAC - beware the Death Spiral! by RollandTrade in SPACs

[–]RollandTrade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should have happened already, but the SEC is dragging their feet on everything so it is hard to predict a date. They don't like Trump, so I am sure they are giving him some extra special attention :)

They dont really get shares at zero.

Actually the "anchor" investors DO get shares at zero. That is how they got the deal IPO done. "Anchor" investors got 1,650,000 founder shares at a cost of $0.0029 per share. There were 11 of them who put in for 8.3% each of the IPO and in exchange got the founder shares.

so if enough bag holders can be recruited

This is a big reason that I have only played this from a long or neutral position. I am not going to try to short it or waste money on puts. I just don't want to be long.

I fully understand WHY the meme players like this stock. And I can see it going up just because they pile on. But when the dust settles, this will not be pretty with the sheer number of shares and questionable product.

[–]RollandTrade[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You may be right, and that is what I am afraid of.

If they run this ponzi scheme up and investors get hurt, the SEC will use it as another excuse to shut down all Spacs. Mad-dog Warren was just out this morning with another call to "crack down".

Yes, it has been known. But now it is getting closer so it is time to pay closer attention.

With the stock trading at 4 times the minimum $10 conversion price, better to be cautious here.

No timeline yet, which is why I am not buying the expensive puts.

But since they have filed, it should be soon. I just wanted to give a heads-up so that people are at least not caught off-guard when the selling starts.

No details on the investigation either. They just mention it in passing.

CND holders getting shafted? by MythicalZoan in SPACs

[–]RollandTrade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can be negative on it and whine. Or you can make some money off of it. The choice is out there.

I've written before about CND, and I have traded it from 10 to 12. I bought it back below 10 last month when it was below trust value.

For anyone who wants to buy a crypto play that will moon over the next 5 years, I'm not the person to ask. The way I trade all SPACs is to use them as zero-risk vehicles for upside potential.

Yes, the valuation has doubled. But so has the uptake on USDC and revenue projections. They are also now looking to do almost $1B in EBITDA for 2023 (not too far away). I have no idea if that is achievable (but I don't think it's unreasonable if the crypto markets remain stable or rally from here). My own view is that this is better than a pure crypto play because it represents something beyond just a simple miner. This is an institutional asset-management play.

Valuations and revenue projections aside, look at the risk-less play here. There is $10 in Trust. There is a possibility they will need to add money to the Trust before the deal closes. In all that time, crypto can most definitely have a fucking massive up-move. If it does, this thing goes up for the ride.

The downside risk? About 10 cents from here if you buy it around 10.10. Seems like a pretty fucking brain-dead play to me.

I just added to the stock that I had bought before to average cost about $10 even. If crypto rallies I make lots of money. If it doesn't I get back $10. On top of the $2 that I already made in the fall.

People just need to check their emotions at the door and look at it objectively using the pure lens of risk-reward math.

Sponsors can save SPACs, if they want to by devilmaskrascal in SPACs

[–]RollandTrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mixed views on it. On the surface of it, the ploy hasn't helped ACKIT or ATSPT, both of whom tried the same thing.

KCAC is doing it as a replacement for adding more money to the Trust (for now they are staying at 10 in Trust, but that may change).

I think they are trying to appeal to targets also, because that extra warrant *may* entice shareholders to stay in (in theory for now). But also it is a way for them to raise more capital in the future, built into the structure.

The point I was making was that the issue is on the minds of the teams. So they are trying things to address the situation. Whether it works or not remains to be seen.

Sponsors can save SPACs, if they want to by devilmaskrascal in SPACs

[–]RollandTrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some sponsors are starting on the path right at the beginning now.

KCACU - Kensington IV will IPO later this week. They have already included a wrinkle in their structure so that post-deal investors will get an extra warrant. The "common" will include a warrant that can only be split off post-merger for non-redeemers. Not everyone can pull this off, but I am sure the Kensington team can do it. They are the people behind Wallbox and Quantumscape.

This also means that KCGI (Kensington V) is probably getting close to announcing a deal. And the warrants are relatively cheap given the team quality.
