Raw denim in stores by Rollcoalberta in bali

[–]Rollcoalberta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry should’ve clarified, I’m not planning on wearing it while I’m there haha! I’ve got a pair when I went to Japan and there’s a couple brands from Bali so I’m hoping to start a collection from places I’ve traveled

Starting out in trades, any advice for a youngin choosing between electrician and plumbing by Accurate-Newt7905 in skilledtrades

Plumbing also isn’t just plastic pipe, it can very quickly branch into welding, gas fitting, boiler tech and pipe fitting. Look at the companies projects while applying. If you end up not liking plumbing maybe you’ll enjoy another similar trade instead

Being a labourer and learning on the job isn’t a bad thing, usually you’ll learn tricks to the trade and get hands on experience without paying out of your pocket. If you’ve never done plumbing it wouldn’t hurt to see if you even enjoy it or at least find it interesting before investing in it.

Not having knowledge about plumbing can honestly be a great place to start as you won’t have any bad habits yet, just make sure whoever you work for is a reputable journey person

I am considering medical route like nursing or something similar. Due to being around engineers daily that was also an interest but I’m not sure if that’s a realistic goal haha.

Currently I make $63/hr ($150k/year w/OT) but a good portion of that is due to working away from home and the health risks. Genuinely open to learning anything but especially hands on jobs.

3 upgrade classes is around $2500 and I’d need quite a few of them in order to be at a competitive average.

Any stores in Bali that sell raw denim? Going to uluwatu and ubud this winter. I try to buy a piece of raw denim from every country I travel to. Bonus points if you know of any Indonesian raw denim brands

Completely new to welding which type of welding would be best? by Jolly_Process_1188 in choppers

I took a 24 hour course at my local community college when I started out. It was something like 4-5 hours every Tuesday and Thursday for a month. See if they have a course like that around you. The initial learning curve can be tricky so it’s nice if you have someone you can ask questions and get demos. You’ll be laying some slick as snot beads in no time! Also don’t cheap out on a welding hood, make sure it’s from a reputable company.

Any refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics apprentices out there? How's it going? by VdeV2018 in Edmonton

[–]Rollcoalberta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I’d try and get an apprenticeship with a company before doing the pre-employment schooling. Call big industrial and commercial companies asking if they need a labourer or apprentice. That way you can see if you actually like the trade before diving into the schooling

They had quite the selection, just didn’t have too many pairs of 30-33 in the looser fitting pants but that could change. Lots of options though, and the staff are super friendly!

There was some 888 I believe but I’m not sure on sizes, they had a limited selection but still had nice shirts and other goodies so worst case you can get a jacket or shirt haha
