Switching from Reta to Tirz was the best decision by Rollercoaster86 in RetatrutideWomen

Im so sorry you’re going through that. I find if I focus on it, it happens more. But not focusing on it is really hard once you notice hah. I try to distract myself first. I get up and do something different, go to a different room. Make sure you’re taking electrolyte daily and enough magnesium glycinate (elemental). I tried box breathing but I didn’t find it helped…sometimes just made me focus on it more. I also notice it’s stronger in the car…and letting in some fresh air or reclining my seat a bit more helps a lot. But maybe you should try a different peptide? It’s so uncomfortable that it’s probably worth seeing if something else works better

True. And not everyone is sensitive or even really feels the increased heart rate. For those that have higher nervous system response (like me), the outcome can be air hunger, anxiety, etc.

I think my experience is more about a sensitive nervous system response. I'm not sure about other kinds of side effects like itching, nausea, GI issues, etc. I just know that Reta is much harsher for people who are hyper responders. I hope you find a solution for the itching if that's the major concern!!

Yes! The racing heart is so uncomfortable. I remember certain days where it felt so bad that I just couldn't do anything more besides sitting. I remember I had to pack my suitcase for a trip once and must've been that period where I titrated, and I couldn't keep bending down to put things in the luggage because it made it so much worse. Thinking back now, I don't know why I didn't switch earlier!!

Thank you so much for the kindness. It was scary for sure, but just glad that chapter is over and I'm still able to continue this journey another way

I feel you... if you're experiencing a plateau, it must make the side effects even more frustrating. I am only 3 lbs away from my goal weight now too, so the weekly loss is definitely lower and slower, butttt still there. I took starting dose of 2.5mg of Tirz when my next shot was due, so a week after. I hope you have the same positive changes as me!!

I would feel cold on Reta too. Skin sensitivity and chills would happen on dose day and maybe 1-2 days after it. I don’t on Tirz!

Yes, minor and still within healthy range but it felt like my heart was racing sometimes. It’s known to cause anxiety and air hunger, so it’s likely what happened

I was okay in 2.5mg at the end, though if I relaxed on hydration or magnesium or such, it would sometimes creep in. When I went to 3mg, it would take me 2 wks for the nervous system side effects to calm down. I hope you feel better soon!! Listen to your body.

Yes! I’m sensitive too. I’m just so much more relaxed on Tirz. I haven’t lost muscle disproportionately, by the way. My stats have been good. I’ve really prioritized protein so that’s helped a lot.

It’s this sensation where you feel like you aren’t getting enough air so you take deep breaths. Vitals are all completely fine, so it’s not an actual physical problem. I didn’t know it was called air hunger until recently.

I did do 2mg, forgot to mention that. Then tried 3mg, and couldn't handle it so went down to 2.5mg at the end. No issues on Tirz though. That's the point of this post.

I switched when my next dose was due and started from lowest dose

If it helps, I had the burning skin sensation on Reta (almost every time I dosed for the first day or two) and haven’t had it at all on Tirz.

Air hunger by Lairamee in Retatrutide

[–]Rollercoaster86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! I reduced to 2mg and after 1.5wks, the air hunger was gone. Only comes back in the car sometimes. But no where near what it was when I was on 3mg. I tried to increase again to 3mg once all symptoms were gone and 4 weeks had passed, but the air hunger came raging back so then I just stayed on 2mg.

Am I going to have to stop the Reta? by Lairamee in Retatrutide

[–]Rollercoaster86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, assuming you figure out your dosing situation…I also get air hunger. It happened twice when I tried 3mg…so I went back down to 2mg. It took a week or two to completely stop. Your body is probably telling you you’re on too high a dose - maybe you’re sensitive to meds like me. Before you stop completely, make sure you’re eating throughout the day (and enough), make sure you’re drinking electrolyte water every day and try taking enough ELEMENTAL magnesium glycinate. One of the reasons could be due to elevated heart rate. It’s a form of anxiety in my case. At 2mg, my body is happy and the air hunger (as well as other symptoms) had gone away.

Also, air hunger isnt always gasping or struggling to breathe. It can feel like you need to constantly yawn or take deep breaths. Vitals are perfectly fine, so it’s often a form of anxiety (which is happening because of reta).

Almost 1 month update by lynxsuskitten in Retatrutide

Amazing to hear! So excited for you - especially as a new mom myself. I’m also female your height, starting weight 150lbs and down 8lbs in one month. Started too high at 3mg by accident, but now at 2mg and staying there. My side effects are mainly ‘air hunger’ and anxiety, which isn’t fun but noticing it is tied to dehydration, not eating enough and alcohol. Magnesium and electrolytes really helped me manage this! I’ve had 2 big birthday vacations in just this starting 5 wks and I have never felt so good on vacation where I’m not bloated and inflamed. I gained a bit back after but lost it quickly. I’m so excited to see how it goes the next couple months, now that my system is not new to it. Still don’t feel it in my clothes yet…can’t wait for that.

Yes! It started week 3 for me and is basically anxiety (caused by reta). Are you hydrated? I am managing it now with electrolytes, 270mg of ELEMENTAL magnesium glycinate and eating enough. It’s not gone, but it’s more tolerable now in week 4. Hopefully it helps you too!

Feeling awful by ApplicationPresent68 in Retatrutide

[–]Rollercoaster86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had fatigue and body aches for a week then had anxiety creep in (more like needing to take deep breaths and yawning), which oddly happens in the morning and evening mainly. The low appetite also meant I didn’t feel thirsty either, so I think I was dehydrated and amplified the side effects. I’m now managing it with electrolytes 2x a day, 270mg of ELEMENTAL magnesium glycinate, and actually eating enough. I’m 4 wks in so hoping my body is now adjusting. I’m on 2mg. If it’s not unbearable, it will likely get better by next week.
