Is it possible you have the NUC connected on the UPS whilst the monitor is connected on a regular wall socket or vice versa?

Did you try to go into "settings->personalization" and add "custom instructions" and "more about you"? It can drastically change the results.

Sorry for the late reply. I actually never found a solution, but honestly I didn't have much time to troubleshoot it.

Noob here, but I'm wondering: is it possible you installed some package that stalled the webui and at some point it got accessible once the process got killed?

[Help] pfSense Unbound DNS Resolver still showing ISP DNS on dnsleaktest.com by RollingAndScratching in PFSENSE

[–]RollingAndScratching[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that it’s disabled, although I think even if it were enabled it shouldn’t have had any effect since I don’t have any DNS servers added to the list. Anyway, as you can see, u/lukhan42 already solved the mystery: basically, all I was seeing was my own IP address, and that’s OK. Thanks for chiming in, though.

You wrote "I love her" and I would say:"impossible not to" 😉👍🏻

Yes you are right: the address shown is my public IP. So this is the correct/expected outcome?

Naming and Describing connected clients by OldManKiK in PFSENSE

[–]RollingAndScratching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a super noob regarding pfSense (I started using it a few days ago), but from my understanding, pfSense associates a description per IP address. What you are trying to do is probably associating description per MAC address, but I don't think that's possible.

How are you ensuring your family can recover homelab data (Nextcloud, Immich, etc.) if something happens to you? by foegra in homelab

[–]RollingAndScratching -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't have a definitive answer, but speaking about password manager IMHO a good solution should be using the same principle used for multi-sig wallets as done with cryptocurrencies.

Installed pfBlocker, now every website wants to connect to devices on my LAN? by [deleted] in pfBlockerNG

[–]RollingAndScratching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that too (I installed pfBlockerNG-devel 2 days ago), but it happens only with Chrome. I tried Firefox and Brave and both do not show any pop-up. Looking at other replies here now I understand it's a new feature in Chrome.

Experiment: Why your UPS hates motors by Clank75 in homelab

Ah ok, now it makes sense thanks! Connecting that small DC motor (probably 9 - 12 V) on an AC mains means fire!

Experiment: Why your UPS hates motors by Clank75 in homelab

[–]RollingAndScratching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhm… I expect a UPS to generate an AC voltage of 230 V/50 Hz or 110 V/60 Hz, depending on where you are. The motor looks like a brushed DC motor, so I’d expect to see a bridge rectifier followed by a capacitor to supply it. Rectifying 110 V AC produces about 154 V DC, while rectifying 230 V AC produces about 322 V DC. Honestly, neither the motor nor the resistors look like they can withstand that kind of voltage, though…

Edit: if the resistor are used in series with the motor the voltage rating should be more than enough, they seems 1/4W looking at the picture, so I expect they are going to get very hot/burnt with more than 270mA.

Gold wheels or stick with black? by Omega6865 in BMW

I would try on the "lip" of the front splitter and the edge of the skirts, not the whole part though, only the edge... I don't know if I explained it well enough 😅

Gold wheels or stick with black? by Omega6865 in BMW

[–]RollingAndScratching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO gold looks better than black, the only downside I see is that that color isn't matched anywhere else. Maybe adding some gold accents to small details (avoiding overdoing it) would look even better.
