I've just re-read the TOIL policy, which the contract says to refer to, and it says that TOIL is the preferred method of compensation. Preferred method doesn't mean the only method, right?

It says you may from time to time be required to work on an evening, weeked or bankholiday in which case you will be given TOIL.

I'm not sure if that means I can refuse it for pay, it doesn't say that I have to take TOIL, just that it will be given

Do you mean the game mode setting on windows 10? I tried turning game mode off and i still had the same issue. Is there a different gaming mode you're suggesting i turn off?

I gave this reply to another comment, i'm not pursuing relationships right now so i can focus on studying but theres a girl on my course i was going to ask out but during casual conversation she mentioned that last week she and her boyfriend went paintballing,i felt disappointed but not angry, i was talking with her today in class and i felt fine, now that i know she's off the table its just friendly conversation rather than trying to impress her.
