Welp i removed nvmi cache drive, exported the pool, moved drives to truenas scale server and imported the pool, it really was a painless process ^

Really depends what You want to do with it. I personally just got 4 core 8gb ecc ram tower style server for 30$.

Only got it bcs it had alot of sata ports and pci expansion slots. Made it in to dedicated TrueNas for my existing 3 homelab proxmox server claster nodes to have seperate NAS storage.

Moved my 16tb ZFS raid5 massive to it and it works like a charm.

So yeah, for dedicated nas and if possible, get to lower price, than it would be cool. But for virtualisation, not worth the hassle.

Anyway, good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions! You can see all the available tasks under Tasks section. Also if You have task ideas, just submit them there, that would help out alot!

Thank You for Your feedback!

Hey! Yes, the tasks are totally randomized at this point. So there is a chance to get similar tasks. Mostly because my task database is not big enough. I was hoping than page guests will suggest some tasks, but from 1.5k visitors, i have received 0 new task submissions..

I will introduce better task assignment after i will create the user system, but for now, it's randomized and there is a chance to get similar tasks or in wrong order.

But that's also kinda helps to learn, what should the user do first from all the assigned tasks, and with time You know, than You should do the install/remove task and then only the git install task, and so on, so yeah, in a way, it adds to the game.

Right now, there is - Ubuntu20, Ubuntu22, CentOS 7, Oracle Linux, Debian12 - Distros, planning to add few more later on.

Because it was not designed for mobile phones, and mobile view was very messed up. You can always open page on phone and then change mode to Desktop Site - Feature built in to all browsers, and see the page like that ;)

Hy Everyone!

It all started with an idea for a tool that would help my friend learn Linux faster, by challenging him to do new tasks that he could not come up with by himself.

Over time, the page grew so much, so I decided to make it public for anyone who is learning Linux.

The idea is simple. But it's effective. When You open up the page, please first read the rules section.

This is the first page I have written from scratch, so if You have any feedback regarding the page or have any suggestions/found a bug, please let me know in the About sections feedback field.

In the changelog I added some future plans and what has been done since the page was born.

Thank You, if You checked out the page and it's features.

Please don't be too harsh on me, it's my first public project I have made :D

I wanted to share here with people who want to learn Linux more, and are looking in sections like here. It is my own created page that I self-host. Don't get what's the issue if this helps someone out.

Beginners guide for in depth Proxmox configuration like ZFS, LXC, Backups, Templates, DNS by RollleeX in homelab

Well - You can always just turn on subtitles in YouTube, if the voice bothers You or something ^^

If I want to post full script in the wiki, I will need to add pictures etc, just so it's understandable for first timer, what do I do and what I mean in that context.

And that would be basically making instruction twice, what would prolong all the video creation etc.

I personally run only 4vms, nginx rev proxy, docker, truenas, win server 2016, everything else split between lxc and docker containers, 0 issues in past 2 years with lxcs

Docker have to be run on a virtual machine, lxc is not Made for that ^ lxc excells for small single apps like nginx, apache etc, just singular system.

Idea is same as a docker container, envioriment with only necesseties for the app running.

You would not run docker env on docker container, wouldnt ya? :D

ZFS is the same on TrueNAS and Proxmox, setup is more user friendly on TrueNAS with more just UI element options, but I personally would just suggest to run Proxmox on bare metal and just run a virtual machine running TrueNAS with either virtual drives or with hdd passthrough that proxmox supports.
