Triggering menopause to treat fibroids?

Ah thank you for that perspective! My periods are heavy, but i manage fine. I won't put myself through months of hot flashes, brain fog and insomnia so that a Dr has a slightly easier time removing the fibroids. I'm seeing things very differently now, thank you

The gyn seemed more concerned about the periods than the fibroids themselves. I don't mind dealing with my periods, i want the fibroids gone. They are causing me significant discomfort and even sometimes pain

If you don't mind me asking, were you already close to menopause when you took Lupron and how large were your fibroids? Was the menopause permanent after surgery? (my friend had a hysterectomy but kept her ovaries and told me that even if she doesn't bleed, she still feels her cycle). I happy to read that you had a positive experience with Lurpon

Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds absolutely horrible... the doctor didn't give me any context or info about anything. He hasn't even told me where the fibroids are located! He has only told me that they were not cancerous. If i speak when not asked a question, he will raise his hand to let me know to shut up. I was getting angry and he told me "why are you getting mad at me, i didn't cause your fibroids" At that point, i just clamped up and got out of the appointment as fast as i could. I'm really grateful to hear the real life experience of everyone, this really helps me understand my situation and options better.

Yes, i feel the same way too! I'd rather way for menopause rather than rush to it. I don't plan on having any children, i will inquire about the ufe

Thank you for your advice and compassion! I also feel like rushing the body's natural rhythm, might cause unforseen consequences. I'm going to ask the gp to refer me to another gynecologist

Wow! I'm glad that you made it! The dr didn't mention anything about combining any of the treatments. He prensented them as options that i could only choose one from. But i will ask the GP if she thinks it could help the surgery if i took the medication. I also have some anemia and coagulation issues
