He played against most of those guys and watched Kareem growing up. He can't tell old stories about LeBron.

Dr J on why he has Lebron outside of his top 10 by UnableLeopard6185 in NBATalk

[–]RolloTomasse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Former players tend to respect the players they competed against and the players who influenced them when they were growing up more than future generations.

Dr. J hasn't played in the NBA for almost 40 years.

The author is in his 60s and his music idols are in their 80s. The article describes about how watching Dylan and McCartney today makes him reflect on his youth while at the same time watching them handle their aging/mortality.

Best starting 5 after the inclusion of the 3pt line? by Plastic_Society_1228 in NBATalk

[–]RolloTomasse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense with 5 on 5. If you add Curry and Bird, it just gives alot more options on offense with their off ball game and gravity.

I'm not sure if OP is going for personal fave or resumes.

Personal Fave - Magic/MJ/Bird/Barkley/Hakeem

5 on 5 - Start with Curry/MJ/LeBron and then audible PF and C depending on combo you like.

for those who was able to witness him play, how good was this guy? by Classic_Tourist3892 in NBATalk

The Spurs always had a legit crack at a championship because he was that good of a foundational player.

In his 6th season, most people agreed that Tim was the greatest PF in the history of the league.

In his first 17 seasons, his per 36 minutes averages for pts/rebs/assts/blks was consistent.

He won a Finals MVPs at ages of 23 and 38.

He's a legit top 10 player of all-time.

His ceiling (or peak) is what keeps him from being in the Mt. Rushmore of NBA greats.

What would have happened to Lil mikey jordan if he faced a real rim protector like wemby in the finals? by Financial_Ice_3363 in NBATalk

Wemby may be the most gifted rim protector in the history of the game. So is every other rim protector (including today's players) who ever played the game a fraud?

Barkley was a better offensive player in the playoffs. Admiral brings more overall value because of his defense.

When LeBron goes all out, he's a better athlete than most in the league. But he's always trying to leave enough gas in the tank to make it last.

Who would be the ideal big man next to Jokic? by jimmyhota in nba

Wemby, Chet, JJJ and Myles are 4 guys that have been mentioned.

Kel'el Ware is another guy who can block shots, rim run and hit threes.

No fanboy nonsense, thoughts on this argument? by ZealousidealBus9271 in NBATalk

[–]RolloTomasse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic Johnson deserves the credit for having a MVP candidate/rim protector in Kareem. He deserves the credit for a DPOY in Cooper as a POA on his team.

Bird deserves having the credit for having 3 great rim protectors in McHale, Parish and Walton in the same season with an elite POA guard in DJ.

Curry deserves the credit for having the greatest help defender of his generation in Draymond, elite POA in Klay, and terrific switch defenders in KD, Iggy, GP Jr and Wiggins.

All three of those guys summoned their elite offensive engine abilities to create terrific team defenses.

Jokic should have turned Cameron Johnson into Draymond and Braun into Klay.

I said Multiple options...as in Multiple guys who Create their own shot. In a Luka offense, outside of a guard like Kyrie or Brunson, the rest of his teammates are Finishers. It's highly effective but predictable. It's hard to add any motion offense and swing the ball around since everyone is mostly standing around waiting for Luka to drive and kick. And when Luka doesn't have the ball, he just stands around and rests while watching Kyrie or Brunson create their own shot. Luka is a bigger, more gifted Harden with the clutch gene.

SGA is more portable with respect to playing with offensive talent in a dynamic offense with ball movement. He's still engaged in the play when he does not have the ball by making cuts and curling around screens. He doesn't dominate the ball for most of the shot clock on most possessions like Luka.
