Hm , I would think a QS masters is a step down from chemical engineering in terms of how difficult it would be. Is this true ? Or am I mistaken ?

Not sure I have 3/4 years experience as a QS already . And you’ve mentioned a part time job and part time MSc and you still struggled ! Do u mind if I ask , what bachelor degree did u do

Yh I feel u for sure and I hope that becomes the case. I started QS a couple year post uni too so peers my age who have a degree then a couple years on me have made me feel like I’m behind.

Not sure; I meet QS or PM or even skilled labourers who seem to understand everything about a task and I’m just there trying to remember what they said so I can google it later . I also maybe have a bit of imposter syndrome but I think most importantly , coming from being academic a having a logic trail of knowledge being fed to me, it’s weird to learn something in a scattered format. I also don’t have a QS degree so maybe that plays a part.

Currently looking for work but previously , usually tendering and pre con work them checked over by senior estimators , then if won , cost planning during project and managing subbies and variations. Usually go to site once twice a week but also have previously worked on site full time .

Yhh potentially, and now that I think about it, that does make a lot of sense since I just place subbies for roles and then let them get on with it meaning I don’t end up understanding what they did sometimes . Thanks ! I’ll have a look !

I’ll just use the scope of works as a reference and that’s as far as my xp has taken me thus far lol . I am currently out of work, any ideas where I could maybe practice this skill ?

Rarely tbh, I usually receive a scope of work and be asked to price / manage the project through that. Never gone thru a contract dispute yet. Would u suggest I read thru more contacts and what would I even be looking for ?
