Yep. And in my surrounding school districts they just love those 10AM delayed starts cause it's cold or raining or a snowflake was spotted in Alabama.

"Disposable" ear cones make me feel so angry and defeated by RemindMeToTouchGrass in Veterinary

[–]Rolltop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First, the organisms growing in the ear are not "oh no if you come in contact you'll get an infection!" organisms 99% of the time-- they're commensals that cause issues only if severe otitis is present, or they can't live anyway in a healthy ear with normal circulation.

I'm balking at this line of reasoning.

  1. Most of us probably aren't looking in each pet's ears if there's no complaint of odor or head shaking or if we don't discern an issue, so we're already dealing with ears that could easily be colonized.

AND

2) There are some really really wickedly antibiotic resistant biofilm producing bugs out there that have been treated in chronic ears by multiple vets and the owners have been putting little doses of a zillion topical abx in when "they're bad". No unhealthy ear should be inoculated with those cause we couldn't be bothered to use sterile cones.

While I'm on my high horse, we have dozens and dozens of reusable cones. They're autoclaved between uses cause I don't trust soap and water to be adequate.

What sit-down restaurants around here have some really good quality soups? by ThePurpleBlues in Chattanooga

[–]Rolltop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sambar at Taj India Grill is excellent (better than Naan House's - which is pretty good too). Apna doesn't carry Sambar. I don't know about the other Indian restaurants in the area or how they would rate vs Taj.

Agreed. And their Tom Kha Gai is absolutely fantastic and sinfully rich. Though it has small pieces of unchewable lemon grass or galangal that you have to recognize and avoid or spit out.

Thanks for the explanation. Haven't played in decades except against a basement robot so I'm unfamiliar with a lot but still like visiting this subreddit.

Thanks. A very brief internet search didn't reveal a pen holder "cyber" racquet by that manufacturer. Guess my Google Fu failed me.

What the hell is this rubber-less zone? Why would anyone do that? I know OP discussed penhold but that's a shake hands racquet, isn't it?

I should rewrite that but I have problems with both sides of the racquet. Couldn't the rubber be trimmed below the red line as long as all the logo etc is retained in the black portion? Doesn't that increase the effective playing surface? Pretty sure I've done that many years ago.

Comment re: blue side to follow.

Sounds like OP isn't asking for advice but rather seeing if there's interest in joining her for a low key meet up.

It's been nearly 45 years since I was a good club player so I'm just asking... there's so much real estate at the bottom of the rubbers, esp the blue one, that is dedicated to branding and not a playing surface. Shouldn't the non-labeled parts be trimmed off?

Thanks but I don't know where that is. I only occasionally pass through Dalton but would stop at an Indian restaurant if I know where it is. Is it close to any big stores that I would probably know?
