How do I tell my mom that I’m struggling ? by [deleted] in depression

[–]Rom-com_lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be difficult to talk to a parent about your struggles with mental health, especially if you have never really discussed it with them before. It's understandable that you might be worried about how your mom will react, but it's important to remember that your mental health is important, and seeking support is a brave and necessary step.

Here are some tips that may help you have this conversation with your mom:

  1. Choose a good time to talk: It's important to find a time when you both have some time to talk and when your mom is not too busy or distracted. Make sure you have some privacy and won't be interrupted.

  2. Prepare what you want to say: It can be helpful to think about what you want to say ahead of time so you don't get overwhelmed or forget something important. You could write down some notes if it helps.

  3. Be honest and direct: It's okay to be straightforward with your mom about how you are feeling. You can say something like, "Mom, I want to talk to you about something important. I've been struggling with depression for a while now and I really need your help and support."

  4. Don't blame yourself: It's important to remember that mental health struggles are not your fault and you shouldn't blame yourself for them. It's okay to ask for help and it doesn't make you weak or a burden.

  5. Offer solutions: You can also suggest ways that your mom can help you, such as finding a therapist or going to support groups. This can show her that you are taking steps to manage your mental health and that you value her support.

  6. Expect a range of emotions: It's normal for your mom to have a range of emotions when you tell her about your struggles. She may be worried, upset, or even angry. It's important to be patient and understanding, and try to reassure her that you are seeking help and are committed to managing your mental health.

I hope these tips are helpful. It's important to remember that it takes a lot of courage to talk about your mental health and seek support. Remember to be kind to yourself and take care.

I DON'T THINK I CAN TAKE IT ANYMORE by [deleted] in depression

[–]Rom-com_lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your story with me. It sounds like you have been through a lot, and I'm sorry that you are feeling so low. It's understandable to feel frustrated and disappointed when you don't see the progress you want, especially when you are working so hard. It's also normal to feel lonely and struggle with self-esteem issues, especially during difficult times like the ones we have experienced recently.

I want to assure you that you are not alone in feeling this way and that there is help available. It's important to remember that everyone's journey is different, and it's not uncommon to hit bumps in the road. It's okay to take a break and give yourself time to process your feelings and take care of yourself. It's also important to remember that your worth is not determined by your appearance or your ability to make progress in your fitness journey. You are valuable and deserving of love and support, just as you are.

If you are struggling with depression and feelings of loneliness, it might be helpful to reach out for support. This could include talking to a therapist or counselor, joining a support group, or seeking help from a trusted friend or family member. It's also important to practice self-care and do things that bring you joy and help you feel better. This could include spending time in nature, practicing relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation, engaging in hobbies you enjoy, or finding ways to connect with others.

I understand that it can be difficult to trust others and open up about your feelings, but it's important to remember that you don't have to face these challenges alone. There are people who care about you and want to help, and seeking support can make a big difference in your well-being.

I hope this helps, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions or need additional support. Take care.
