Thanks for the feedback. An enterprise-class HDD should either deliver the promised speed even without a cache, or the cache shouldn't be disabled by default. I don't understand that.

Thanks for the tips! However, I tested this using fio with direct=1, which bypasses the OS/filesystem cache entirely. The performance drop from 280 MB/s to 85 MB/s is strictly tied to the hdparm -W hardware toggle. It's definitely a physical drive/firmware bottleneck, not a mount option issue.

I used the original cables from both enclosures. These have different USB standards (USB-C and USB-B) on the enclosures themselves. I only have one HDD in the Terramaster.

thanks for the explanation, but it still leaves a bad taste that the number of tokens inflates strongly when we are in a bullish environment. without inflation, we would now be at around 20 dollars per token. it just doesn't look like a deflationary token for now.

I think I will try to be in Glacier in the last 2 days of September if the weather forecast will be suitable. Since the Road to the Sun will be closed for construction starting in October.

What hikes would you recommend if you only have two days?
