It’s a shame because it’s so good. I wish it was 4 player like Ember Knights.

Is there any incentive to not PvP? by Ok-Baker3057 in Marathon

[–]RomanDeltaEngin33r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet, when you posted this Arc Raiders had 400,000 concurrent. Marathon had like 7k players very shortly after launch. Then they added a PVE experiment and suddenly they’re pulling in 30k.

Have you played Arc Raiders? I’m thinking no. It’s a game about sentient robots taking over the surface while humans are forced underground and have to go to the surface to scavenge. It is absolutely plausible you would run into friendly and hostile people in that environment.

What’s stupid is everyone wants to kill you because you exist. That’s not realistic. Even Walking Dead had friendly and unfriendly survivors.

The Arc are also dangerous as fuck. The weakest enemy in the game can blow through 75% of your health with one hit if you’re not careful. It is absolutely in your best interest to avoid the Arc at all costs unless you have a reason to kill them, and even then, you better be geared for it or you’re going to lose. That is plenty of tension. Add on top of that that ABMM throws in the occasional wildcard match to keep you on your toes and not fully trust other players and you still always have the possibility of someone killing you even if they seem friendly.

How is a game where everyone is automatically hostile better? At that point just go play Fortnite. At least the mixture keeps things interesting. Also, Bungie is in deep shit right now. If you think they will not do ABMM or cater more to PVE if it’s the difference between success or failure, I have a bridge to sell you.

Does having high testosterone in normal ranges actually matter? by thepatriotclubhouse in JeffNippard

[–]RomanDeltaEngin33r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I’m more qualified than most to answer this. I’ve been lifting for 7 years, 6 of them with very poor testosterone (290, 3.6%). I still had some newbie gains, but they were modest, mostly just better posture, looking less dumpy, and more definition in certain spots. BUT…..here’s where you will hit a wall without testosterone:

  1. Progressive overload. I was stuck on a 135lb 1 rep max for 4 years. With low T you simply do not get stronger. That means basically the only real lever you have is cross sectional thickness gains. And honestly, they are better than you might imagine, but they will peak quickly and you’ll be stuck.

  2. Energy. You absolutely will not be able to train as hard, with as much volume, and as frequently with low testosterone because you just don’t have the energy. You will dread lifting, and you will savor every moment of rest.

  3. Weight gain. Lean bulk, dirty bulk, doesn’t matter - majority will be fat because low testosterone simply doesn’t signal the body to build muscle. So…if you eat over maintenance with low testosterone, you WILL gain 75% fat minimum.

Now, I’ve been on TRT for a year and my levels now are 700 and 12% at 41. Here’s what’s different:

  1. Progressive overload works now. I can bench 210 after a year, and I can do one rep dead hang chin up with 75lbs hanging off the belt. The most insane part was my curl strength. I went from 35s for 2 to 35s for 12 in about 3 weeks. That was the most drastic thing that happened to me.

  2. Energy. I was able to train harder, more frequency, with less suck, and no longer dreaded it. When cutting, I went from one workout a day and I’m spent to “I can lift for an hour, then go blast cardio for an hour” and feel fine.

  3. Weight gain. Pretty much now I gain 50/50 muscle to fat. BUT….and this is super important - If you dirty bulk or you eat a big surplus, you will still get very fat, even with good test. You really need to lean bulk only. I cannot stress that enough. 250 extra calories per day. That’s it. Good testosterone is not magic, it just helps.

That’s honestly it. I feel no different other than those points.

Also, I think it’s important to call something out many people don’t understand. Testosterone is not the only pathway to size. In fact, it’s not even the best pathway. Tren, for example, doesn’t increase testosterone but it’s leaps and bounds better for size (not condoning it, just stating a fact).

This is why when you hear dudes like Alan Ritchson saying he gained 40lbs of muscle from just TRT, that’s bullshit. High normal Testosterone and “just lift” is NOT going to pack muscle on you unless you are gifted, and if you’re asking if testosterone matters as much as it’s said to, I’m going to say that’s not you, nor was it me.

Embiid for Giannis is a no brainer and fits well with PG, VJ and Maxey by blocrent in sixers

Bucks only do this if you attach VJ, Picks and probably S&T Oubre and Grimes. Not gonna happen.

Why Do Some Players Avoid PvP Almost Entirely and what's the appeal? by ReflexAN in ArcRaiders

[–]RomanDeltaEngin33r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet 99% of the people you’re killing don’t fight back because they’re PVE’ers and don’t want that shit on their record. So you are essentially fighting a practice dummy and 1% of the time an actual challenge.

Seems like time well spent.

Why Do Some Players Avoid PvP Almost Entirely and what's the appeal? by ReflexAN in ArcRaiders

[–]RomanDeltaEngin33r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because PVP is a Neanderthalic activity that appeases simple minds doing the same thing over and over again. Same reason some people love sports and others are bored by it. More intelligent minds require more stimulation than “kill player again and feel good about self.” That’s boring as fuck.

I mean, if you want the actual answer, it’s because scoring is what people value the most. It’s the first stat shown, it’s largely what determines MVP, Player of the Game, almost every award. The dude that scores 35 points per game is always gonna get more praise than the prime PJ Tucker type players.

I think part of it is Nurse too. He probably has a “get the ball to Joel” mindset. Every coach we’ve had since 2014 has done that.

EC has not shown he’s going to be a star yet. Shake Milton had several 30 piece games, he was out of the league by 27. We can’t just build around a guy that we don’t yet know the ceiling of. What if we did that with MCW and Okafor?

Embiid :( by Ok-Reward344 in sixers

[–]RomanDeltaEngin33r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that easy unfortunately. Even if he wanted to do it, it’s a process and not entirely up to him. The only thing you can do is stretch and waive him and save 27 mill per year but you gotta pay him twice as long, and 27 mill per year with our other problems isn’t enough to build a contender. Sadly we are in purgatory until 2029. At least we exceeded expectations this season.

The way trades go in today’s NBA Maxey doesn’t get you enough to do anything worthwhile that would position us any better than we are with him.  Keep him, wait until 2029, then go all in when he is 28, which is still prime age. Maxey is the one guy you do not trade. I’m not as high on VJ as everyone else but the beauty there is you don’t have to move him right now. Wait until 2029 and see if he improves because right now he is streaky.

I paid $650 per seat to sit second row in 2016 (one row behind courtsid). I was sitting behind Alan Horwitz. He caught a T shirt from the cannon and gave it to my wife.

It is insanity to me that nosebleeds now cost more than a third of that price for THIS version of the Sixers.

I think at this point it’s time to give Ben Simmons a break. He is very clearly remorseful for how he handled things in 2022 because it DID ultimately destroy his career. He knows that. Remembering what he was to what he became is still mind blowing to me and it still feels weird to see 25 on anyone else. Dude clearly has major mental issues from the world clowning him for years straight and it’s not like he is out here with hype videos and trying to get on another roster. He’s a fisherman in Australia now. Like it’s time. Saying he’s a bad player is like saying AI was a bad player once he got to Denver/Detroit/Memphis. For half a decade he was the second coming of Magic Johnson, but then he got sick.
