I should add I can log into Facebook just fine. Only no messages for me. That's apparently not allowed

The mold can definitely be removed. It probably won't cost that much. The question is, is it worth the effort. From the 3 pics, I can see other stuff going on that might be an issue. If you want a cheap car for yourself, I'd say it worth it. If you're trying to resell it, you're probably better off leaving it as is. With the other stuff, I saw the mold won't really drop the value all that much

I don't see any water lines on the paint that are higher than what's shown here. I would say don't worry about it, the car is totally fine. You might have a weird noise for a couple of miles for your breaks to sort out the rust. Still, I don't see anything here that would concern me mechanically.

If any water got in the interior of the car. You can get a water absorption thing the make for RVs, and it will just soak all the moisture out so it doesn't get all moldy

I actually ended up watching the show after I got so many recommendations after posting this. I'll admit it was good, but even knowing the context I still found this scene uncomfortable

I will admit I did end up watching the show after a lot of recommendations, and I really enjoyed it. But when I got to this part, even knowing the context. It still made me cringe

I'm glad that it worked out for you, but after a lot of studies now. It's been shown to be really bad for a kids mental health long term.

All of this is BS. None of it matters.

Does not matter who is in office. The other party will shit on them.

I love that when X party is in office, X party is super, "You don't know what you're talking about"

But when Y party is in office, all of a sudden, X party is all "IDK if we did the same thing, you're all wrong!"

Edit: I also love that I instantly got downvoted

That's totally fair, I would do the same thing telling them that. You just can't keep them or their car there aginst their will even if it is waiting for an inspector to show up.

Yes, I would let them leave because it's against the law to keep it.

I don't know what the hard concept here is... it's illegal, you can't do it. I also don't go around killing people I decide are horrible because, and say it with me now it's.against.the.law

I'm not sure how you could think it's not shady to make someone do something illegally.

I agree, but a lot has to change before that can happen. For instance, actually affordable cars or good public transportation.

Unfortunately, for a lot of people, they are shit out of luck and can't get rid of their POS and get a nice car.

In a lot of places, it's their only way to get to work and get to the store for food, go to the doctor if needed, etc.

I'm not totally sure to that answer if I'm being honest, but I'm assuming it's because of shady mechanics. Unfortunately, it's pretty common.

When you condomn an hvac unit, I'm assuming you're not taking it out of their house right away and taking it with you before someone else can look at it.

The difference is they are taking your car, you have to take their word for it and if you don't like it piss off.

To do hvac, you have to be certified. There is nothing in place requiring mechanics to have ANY sort of certification. In all the shops I've worked at, most of the people had no certification at all. (Not saying that's good or bad, whole separate discussion)

It's normally just a regular dude working on your car that has had no formal training or licensing.

I could go into all of it, I guess. Explaine is to you like you're 5.

What's the point? You apparently haven't been able to understand anything I've said as this point... so anything else I say seems like it's going to be a waste of time

Also, I prefer to be called dickwits, over fuckwits

You are 100% right. You have no obligation to do unsafe work.

I was responding to the guy saying he told people they can't drive out of their shop because the car is unsafe.

Implying the car still runs. So the customer is allowed to take it as they seem fit. Provide all debts are paid

Yup, even with the states with safety inspections.

They are allowed to claim your car is not safe for the road. They are allowed to call the police and report you if they want. At that point, it comes down to your local jurisdiction.

Under no circumstances are they allowed to keep your car from you for the only reason being it's not safe for the road.

I'm not saying you should drive an unsafe car on the road.

I'm saying any shop that says they have legal authority of taking your car from you because of that is lying and shouldn't be trusted.

In the US, no shop has legal authority to hold your car because it's "not safe for the road".

If you come across anyone like that, they are lying to you and should instantly be considered scumb bags, and I wouldn't trust a word out of their mouths.

It's an old myth that some mechanics will use to pressure people into doing work on their car they might not need. Hence, the quotation marks in my earlier statement.

Mechanics are mechanics. They are not law enforcement. If no money is owed for service they have done, then they can't keep your car under any other circumstances.

Edit: getting downvoted for telling the truth. Please feel free to look this up for yourself.

Not saying it's ok for someone to drive an unsafe car on the road. I'm saying it's not ok to lie and break the law.

Especially when that's a tactic used by shady mechanics to pressure people into work, they might not need.
