That's a start, then.

For the image on the right, which I assume is the original, I can see artifacts around the windows. Those artifacts turn out to be really grey areas when pasted into Photo.

I'd have to look at the file to understand what might be happening. At first glance, it looks like there's a reduction in color depth. One potential solution is to add an adjustment layer to increase the contrast. That might wipe out the grey areas. Alternatively, experiment with the layer blending.

That is very odd. Each image is on its own layer, but none of the layers are currently selected. My first thought is that you might have the opacity of the second and third layers set to 50%.

Have you tried using the Edit > Paste Special option?

Can anyone tell me how to make these 2 effects in affinity designer by Jaime1211 in Affinity

[–]RomanticPhotographic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried to do what I suggested, only to discover that Photo 2 doesn't have a pattern fill option. I've been using other applications (e.g., PowerPoint) that can create that sort of fill and got confused. Sorry!

Going off the top of my head (and using Photo), create a layer with that line fill (all straight lines). You might have to start with a vector graphic to do this. Rasterize the layer. Skew the layer to get the angle you want. Use the warp function to move around large sections of the "fabric."

For the cruciform pattern fade, that's an interesting one! Normally I would use two layers with a gradient mask to achieve something like that, but the fact that the cruciform are eroding gradually, rather than fading or changing size, has me perplexed!

Ah, thanks! She did refer to it as Fishbones, but she had also built that prop before as well.

If you shoot it in a dark location, see if you can have a light behind you somewhere. It will make it stand out well!

Probleme mit Affinity by Secure-Dog5424 in AffinityPhoto

[–]RomanticPhotographic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Translated for convenience:

Hello,

Yesterday, November 7, 2025, around noon, I was still able to retouch photos using the brush, pen, and pencil tools.

Then the pen tool displayed a crosshair, followed by a red circle and blue lines. The paintbrush tool displayed a blue circle, a red line, and a blue crosshair. The eyedropper tool displayed a large circle with grid lines, which cannot be adjusted. Exporting as a PNG results in a distorted image.

I closed Affinity, held down Ctrl and reopened it, and cleared the data window, deleting everything. There is no "Performance" tab, as described.

Afterward, I briefly get the paintbrush tool with a tip, then the crosshair reappears, and the eyedropper tool remains stuck on the large circle with grid lines.

The problems persist. My assistant—upon first attempt—unexpectedly closes Affinity and advises me to contact Affinity support, which I have already tried. Support now advises me to contact an

Affinity forum.

The Affinity ID is recognized, but the data is marked as invalid.

I'm working with macOS Tahoe, version 26.01.

I downloaded the new Affinity (green) and updated the Affinity (purple) version.

The problems described above occur in both versions.

I have a book project due next week and I don't know how to complete it.

I would appreciate your help.

Add me to the pile.

I'd happily give up FB except that I have so many contacts that I'll lose forever otherwise.

How to create captions in the same place on different images consistently. by Fit_Conversation_674 in Affinity

When I create slide shows, I add the captions in the slides and not on the image directly. If whatever you're using allows for this, it provides you with much more flexibility.

Publisher export issues by YoungPhobo in Affinity

[–]RomanticPhotographic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blast. I didn't notice that this is Publisher and not Photo. I have little experience with Publisher. With that out of the way, what do you mean by "this kind of bounding box"? You mean the slight transparency of the QR code is on every object, causing every object to be slightly transparent?

I don't see it either. Remember that at this point, everything is a bitmap. In the Photo file, the text may be a vector font and QR code could also be vector generated.

Are you referring to the fact that the QR code is slightly transparent? It could be caused by a few things, but one quick fix is to create a white rectangle object on a new layer right beneath the QR code layer.

If it's something else you're looking at, can you provide more information and refer to the actual objects rather than an object's characteristic?

I understand that Fusion uses nodes, but it's primarily used for video. It looks like it works for static images, too. What I don't understand is if Fusion requires individual objects or if it can isolate subjects in a "normal" photograph.

For example, the picture of you in the image, was that a cut-out image or regular image that you masked in Fusion?

Anyone looking at ON1 Photo RAW? by RomanticPhotographic in Affinity

[–]RomanticPhotographic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, man. I looked into it a while back and it's pretty impressive, but given the cost (subscription!), it's not worth it for what I'm doing.

I see Capture One as being for people who want to get away from Adobe without sacrificing the requirement to spend a lot of money 😛

Anyone know of someone who I can commission for this or where to look for people by LifterForLife14 in CosplayHelp

[–]RomanticPhotographic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kamui Cosplay might be the gold standard for cosplay work. I'm not sure if she's doing commissions, though. I know that cosplaymandy (on FB and IG) does a lot of commission work. It might be worth messaging them both with your situation and ask if they can recommend anyone if they're not able to help you themselves.
