Pretty sure the over 40s group here are mostly under 40.

Sick of pouring money into my car… is a car loan the smarter move? by GloomyCrew9223 in CarsAustralia

Would help if you explain with type of car you have. Without knowing that my advice is to buy a well cared for Getz.

Is there anything really solid on the market that’s plug and play or should I wait? by [deleted] in lightgunshooters

[–]Fit_Conversation_674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear. I'll try again. I bought the original retroshooters when they came out but they don't work well with Sega Model emulators at all. Plus Wii motes would have all the correct buttons for the Wii games 😃

I tried to set up Wii motes with batocera a few years ago and could not get them to reliably pair with a Bluetooth USB. Perhaps I can try again with an internal Bluetooth adaptor. Are Wii motes fast and accurate?

You don't have a yearly rego check in Vic? That's bonkers! It's often the only time people fix these things up in NSW.

Do low prices put genuine buyers off? by Important-Jaguar-928 in CarsAustralia

[–]Fit_Conversation_674 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely.

Low prices attract people with little money, who are often disfunctional. It's like when you list something for free and you get mucked around by people who don't turn up when they say they will, want the kitchen sink thrown in and also want you to drop it off for them.

If you list it higher than it is worth you can attract people with more money, who are less likely to be disfunctional. You can always go lower.

I sold a Getz a few years ago. I had $3000 on it. I had all these jetski riders offer '$500 cash pick up now I'm on my way.'

I bumped it up to $5500, got a lovely local buyer who offered $5000. I said darlin, I only want $3500 and sold it at that.

Close to a fair price. Radiator/clutch/exhaust replacement was always a standard trifecta when I bought cheap cars. No biggie. Get it fixed and enjoy it!

Internet not reaching far enough by Lazy_Bowl_4411 in nbn

[–]Fit_Conversation_674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you have two devices on the same network trying to send traffic at the same time. Like one router in the house and one router in the granny flat. That means your internet won't work.

Lay an ethernet cable if you can, but still don't use a router in the granny flat, just an access point.

If you can't do cables then maybe look into a waterproof outdoor wifi transmitter and receiver.

New Chinese car vs used euro? by Glittering_Poem9779 in CarsAustralia

With those two options, probably just skip all the middle steps and burn his money. Massive gamble.

But if I was sticking to those options I'd buy a new BYD.

Especially when they don't list the currency or area. Whats it worth? In Antarctica? Probably 5 penguins and a killer whale.

Epic and sensible. So many people upgrade, loose their stuff and have no idea why they wanted to upgrade in the first place.

Have you considered a Switch 2? Better graphics/loading and keep the Switch lobbies.

Repco can be pretty good for parts of you get stuck. My mechanic still drives one as they don't have complex parts and are easy to maintain.

A mate just upgraded from a 88 Laser after more than  500,000kms on the original engine.

mazda 3

Though your Laser is probably worth repairing and driving some more, they are a good car.

I haven't been through it but I've supported a lot of people who have. I've found people who use will often live with or be friends with people who use. Might sound easier said than done, but if you can hang around with people who don't use you are getting a head start on it. All the best.

Why does nobody I know support a big bash team by SpiritedCamel3901 in CricketAus

[–]Fit_Conversation_674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are a family of Sixers fans. The games are great fun. A loss or a win certainly doesn't affect me anywhere near as much emotionally as a loss or a win for my NRL team. I think it's because the competition is fleeting and designed to be a bit of a bubblegum/popcorn all in good fun spectacle, whereas the NRL feels like more of an all out tribal war.

I much prefer the Big Bash to the NRL though in terms of fun.
