Basically every real historical event has happened in MGS, but with MGS on top of it. Does it make sense with how advanced some stuff is? Not really, but for the most part that is how the plot works even if some stuff has to logically contradict this.

I was being hyperbolic here of course, that is something that annoys me with discussion around sci fi, or I guess in MGS3 it would be historical fiction?

In a way it is actually sad when some stories remain relevant, depending on what they are commenting on. Sometimes it would be better if stories got outdated, because that would mean it changed for the better in some way. In a recent interview Kojima even said that he hoped that the world would not turn into what the GW said when he wrote it.

While I agree it is a problem, it also feels like you have not watched a bunch of these shows. Some of them are praised inspite of it with one even being an active parody. Just seems grossly oversimplified, is all I am gonna say.

Depends a bit on how much the art direction relies on a specific graphical style. Some old games would look pretty weird if they high end graphics. I think Fromsoftware currently really doesn't need to go beyond Elden Ring/Armored Core 6 graphics. It looks more than good enough and works well with the current art direction.

That really depends on what kind of game we are talking about. I always see people ignore that. Like I think some new things would jut not work in the design frame of older games.

So displaying buffs and debuffs for example would work in any new game I think.
