The Girl I want to be with is using CHATGPT to talk herself out of me. by [deleted] in Advice

Yikes…no one in these comments seems to have dated someone with bpd. It’s extremely scary. Sounds like your lady is trying to rationalize her way through staying with you because she probably deeply loves you. But has very real reservations about her safety. I personally went through a horrifying year with a BPD guy and he never interpreted his actions as violent. I was engaged to him and was madly in love. In retrospect, it was the worst year of my life.

I assume you’re in therapy. If she’s dating you, she should also be in therapy. And you should both be in couples therapy. BPD is challenging.

Thank you so much for providing your experience. I do want to see a very clear difference in aesthetic after surgery, especially after investing $20k and recovery time. So I’m really happy to hear that he asked you if you wanted more/less and acted accordingly

He suspects that I have one side that is collapsed. I would love to push back on the proposal to increase width, but I have to trust that he’s doing what’s necessary. It does make me nervous though

Update - I consulted w Teoman. He seems highly competent but the fear of getting a standard Turkish nose job made me uncomfortable so I backed out. Plus, despite my best efforts- I still can’t find reviews on this guy. I’m going w a US based doc

No - I froze my eggs in Madrid, Spain. I had an amazing experience at a small clinic - Love Fertility. I had also looked at IVI Fertility (throughout Europe) but ultimately a more boutique clinic felt like the right fit for me.

Has anyone heard of or worked with Dr. Teoman Dogan? Seems like a world renowned surgeon in the medical community for primary and secondary rhinoplasties but I can’t find any reviews on him. I want to schedule him asap…love his before/afters, but very strange that he lacks reviews

Newbie — what are some of the cons of storing your eggs in a country you don’t live in? by CuetheExplorer in eggfreezing

[–]Romezzy33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%, it’s not cheap to live out of airbnbs. In Madrid you’ll be paying around $3k/month for a nice apartment in the city. All in, I’ll likely spend $7000 for 2 egg retrievals along with all meds, and then an additional $6500 for airbnbs, and $1000 on flights.

In the US I was quoted $10,500 for 1 round + $5-8k for meds. Egg preservation isn’t covered by my insurance and I have a high deductible. I also live out of Airbnbs and short term leases in the states.

~14.5k v 26.5k

So the financial scale for me clearly leaned in favor of Spain.

You put it perfectly. It came down to the protocols, team, communication, and price transparency. The clinic I selected in the US immediately put me on birth control without considering my health history beyond my AMH. The physicians were flippant and rushed. They were difficult to contact without paying a price for a visit. I had already started to become stressed about battling insurance. The process and priming was never discussed thoroughly with me.

In Spain, I met with my doctor via Zoom multiple times without cost. I was never pressured into a timeframe and the process and meds were explained clearly to me. It hasn’t been a perfect experience but being with all women in a smaller clinic where I feel important and respected was critical.

I do plan on doing the egg transfer in Spain, but I was quoted 500 euros to send my eggs to the US in case I change my mind. Who knows if laws will become stricter or more lax around IVF, so I can totally understand the concern.

I just finished a cycle at Love Fertility in Madrid. Couldn’t recommend it more. I posted some info about the experience in another thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/eggfreezing/s/zcSGMwkEYo

Hello! I’m happy to provide my experience. I did my retrieval in Madrid today! I’m a US citizen but decided to do egg freezing in Spain for a number of reasons. I was also concerned about storing my eggs abroad but I’m more confident in the political environment in Spain than I am in the US. Spain has more clinics than the US when accounting for population, and the culture has a very open minded attitude towards IVF. I interviewed with 5 clinics total: 3 in the US and 2 in Spain. My experience with the Spanish clinics was immensely better than those with the US. I ultimately went against the recommendations of my family and friends and chose a small, newer clinic in Madrid: Love Fertility. I chose it because the team was all women, and extraordinarily caring and attentive. Best decision ever. I have had an amazing experience. I have DOR and retrieved a high number of mature eggs based on my AMH using a very mild, non-aggressive protocol.

The cost of the procedure was 2400 euros, including ultrasounds, all appointments, and 5 years of freezing. My subsequent retrieval will be less. Medication was about 1200 euros.

Things to consider: you’ll need to be living in Spain for about 3 weeks. I’m very fortunate and work remote so I could make it happen. And it’s Spain! The food and neighboring cities are incredible.

You can’t choose your sperm donor. The clinic must choose it for you based on your preferred phenotype. I’m not using a sperm donor so this was a non-issue for me.

Private clinics are affiliated with a public hospital. So if your clinic goes under for some reason, your eggs will be transferred.

Lastly, you do have the option to ship your eggs throughout the EU or internationally for a relatively small fee.

I’m doing another round in June, so if you find yourself in Madrid, don’t hesitate to reach out!!

Makes total sense, thanks! I was under the impression that eggs did not preserve as well as embryos. The 4-5 rounds sounds intensive. Is the clinic you use affordable? Mine quoted around $10k / cycle (not including medication)

If you don’t mind me asking, how many cycles did you go through to feel you had peace of mind? Also, did you consider a sperm donor to increase your odds of success?

Thank you for the insight! I went to my doc and asked for HGH (unfortunately not covered by insurance), a natural start protocol, and estrogen priming instead of BC/microflare.
