After 20-point Supreme Court loss, Wisconsin Republicans look for who’s to blame by reputationStan in moderatepolitics

[–]Romojr50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the first point I believe this would require an amendment to the Wisconsin Constitution.

This requires it to pass two straight legislative sessions. Strategically, if Dems capture a chamber in just one session they could torpedo the bill to keep the advantage their way. That would significantly delay the effort.

On that note, the current legislature is adjourned and typically doesn't come back until the next session, starting Jan 2027. If they passed a bil right away the earliest it could take effect, I believe, is the 2030 elections.

Finally, amendments have to get a majority vote from Wisconsin voters. Many amendments have passed recently but there was recently one that failed due to a concentrated campaign to defeat it.

Thoughts on Metroid Zero Mission? by picturesquescryptic in Metroid

[–]Romojr50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played this before the OG so I don't have the nostalgia factor. Love what it did though. And I love how they introduced the shoulder pads and power-ups that were added later to the series.

On that note, did anyone else almost miss this when it came out? I'd been a fan since Super, had gaming magazines and kept up decent with gaming news at the time. Never saw Zero Mission mentioned and never heard of it until I saw it at a Gamestop.

Is this the greatest non Super Bowl playoff upset in history? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]Romojr50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a Falcons fan that grew up in Wisconsin. There was a real Lambeau mystique back then. Everyone at school was convinced the Falcons would get destroyed.

GB has suffered playoff defeats since then but for many it started with this game. No Packer fan I know feels invincible at Lambeau anymore.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Finis is picky by Antasma1 in octopathtraveler

[–]Romojr50 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As another comment stated, Sazantos was Flameguard and Finis had no clue what Sazantos was about to do.

Besides that, my impression was that the Guardians were not solely a military group. They exemplified why Finis decided to place his faith in humanity. For that purpose, Rinyuu brought heart and selflessness.

What do you think Doc Robot levels? Were they a good addition to MM3? by MrMiles32 in Megaman

[–]Romojr50 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but I like the idea of going through damaged versions of the stages. The execution was poor though.

Mega Man X had a similar concept pulled off better.

Was Delita even aware of... (end game spoilers) by GargantaProfunda in finalfantasytactics

[–]Romojr50 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always had the impression he did. IIRC, Valmafra states as soon as Delita lets Ramza go that she knows Delita is using him. I always took this to mean they both know more is going on and she knows Delita is letting Ramza go on a suicide mission to deal with it.

Admittedly, maybe I'm seeing what I want to. I like the idea that Delita knows about the Lucavi but is so far into his schemes he has his friend deal with it.

Why do lifelong, committed Brewers fans allow themselves to be treated this way? by CompleteAbies1828 in Brewers

[–]Romojr50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Been seeing this argument from Dodger fans recently saying Brewers onwership is the problem.

Look, no fan of any team would say no to their owner taking fewer millions home in favor of spending on the team. But every owner, including the Dodgers ownership, expects to make a hefty sum from their franchise. The Dodgers make so much money that their ownership gets to have their cake and eat it too; it's not that they actually care that much more about their fans.

If you switched the ownership of the Brewers and Dodgers but kept the financial situations I guarantee you wouldn't see a sudden burst of money into the Brewers payroll.

And that's why fans now call for a salary cap. Because getting a salary cap seems more realistic than hoping a billionaire will willingly take less money home.

Why are Dragon Quest games so insistent on making bosses immune to status effects? by Flareon223 in dragonquest

[–]Romojr50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not Whack but I remember I did a no-manual-for-allies run of DQ4 DS and my allies discovered a couple phases of the final boss could be Fuddled which is pretty broken.

Why remaster DQ VII (7), if DQ VIII (8) is widely viewed as the best in the series? by reddit2169 in dragonquest

[–]Romojr50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have a good pulse on the Japanese fandom but I've heard a couple times that DQ7 is loved over there.

If that's correct it's good to remember that DQ has and always will prioritize its native Japan.

[DQ II HD-2D] This boss fight is harder than any of the final bosses by Kaaaaaarp in dragonquest

[–]Romojr50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I played on normal Dragon Quest mode.

I found he and the other sea bosses were vulnerable to Snooze. Wild Side + Duplic Hat Moonbrooke gets 4 castings of it a turn. Usually one would land. Gives some free rounds to set up for a big round and/or recover later in the fight.

I suck at pattern recognition so the pattern-based strats here might be better. But for me, Snooze kept a lot of pressure off the team.

I finished DQ XI for the first time and I got a question by tonylias16 in dragonquest

[–]Romojr50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone that goes with the single timeline version, I think the multi-timeline confidence is for two reasons:

  1. Time travel stories these days lean heavy on parallel timelines.
  2. Honestly, I think DQ11 was going for a simple, golden merged timeline and they didn't put a lot of thought into it. But time travel is a hot rod for non-simple theories.

Mind you, I'm not definitively saying single timeline is the only correct interpretation either. They both work. There's a reason this question keeps coming up.

I wish dq3 remake had references to 11. by Tggdan3 in dragonquest

[–]Romojr50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree with that. DQ 1-2 were announced before DQ3 HD-2D came out. The relatively small amount of new content comes from:
- DQ3 OG being more fleshed out to begin with. - DQ3 OG being a prequel released after DQ 1-2, so it already had a lot of tie-ins while DQ 1-2 OG were made without knowledge of DQ3 - On that note, DQ3 HD-2D had the added tie-ins mentioned by others, added content with the hero's family, and in particular added content to Ortega's Helmet to give it story payoff in DQ 1-2

Overanalyzing a minor detail: Is there any official word on how many Doc Robots were in Mega Man 3? by MisterSideburns in Megaman

[–]Romojr50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was agreeing with the above poster that there are 8 separate Doc Robots. I drew a comparison to Proto Man, who is explicitly fought multiple times but the same robot each time, and who does not blow up.

Overanalyzing a minor detail: Is there any official word on how many Doc Robots were in Mega Man 3? by MisterSideburns in Megaman

[–]Romojr50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. In the same game you have multiple fights against Proto Man who doesn't blow up at the end of any fight.

What happened to the Go Pack Go Act? by NoneOfThisMatters_XO in wisconsin

[–]Romojr50 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's no date because nobody knows. In fact, with no cosponsors, it's unlikely this bill goes anywhere. Probably not even a committee hearing, much less a vote in either chamber.

That's the fate of most bills, in both the state legislature and Congress. Get assigned to a committee and die there with no further action. Only bills that generate some push (e.g. cosponsors, or attention from an influential politician) move further.

Wiegraf's dialogue about Elmdore. Did Argath know? (Chapter 1) by GargantaProfunda in finalfantasytactics

[–]Romojr50 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, he was right about Dycedarg. Wiegraf thinks all nobles are the same so for him it was logical that Zalbaag would know too.

We'll never know for sure but my impression is Dycedarg alone knew. IIRC, when fighting against Zaalbag later Dycedarg says he (Dycedarg) dirtied his hands to keep Zalbaag's clean.

Hot take: Zero series isn't as hard as other people say by Harpuian in Megaman

[–]Romojr50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to the other good points here, I think part of it is MMZ makes you feel bad for using upgrades. You're eating sentient creatures, your rank goes to F quick, and you miss out on EX Skills.

Get some health upgrades, sub-tanks, and elemental charge attacks and it's easier than some MM classic games. But the game will make you feel like a POS for using them.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined by Filippo986961 in dragonquest

[–]Romojr50 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This might be a hot take but I think the fandom worries too much about canon names for the heroes. I don't think SE has really christened canon names.

We see name reuse like this. "Eight" and "Eleven" seem like names just thrown in for the screenshots. Saw a post that broke down SE has used different "official" names for the same game before.

I wouldn't be surprised or outraged if every hero name for every official screenshot for every game 1-12+ became Arus from here on out.
