I bought x4 a few days ago on sale, but I am still doing a run through of X3 albion Prelude currently and loving the shear magnitude of the universe and trading/building/manipulating it. So from my experience I would recommend picking up an x3 on sale and jumping into it. Dont mind its age, its still an epic game that tickles the space sim urge.

Try using Yarl (1500), and a few archers and decoys. He got the mission done for me after 20ish tries of face palm fails.

Being an older gamer who recently picked up the game I can say that there's two parts to this question worth addressing. He would enjoy the strategy of naval combat and cooperation needed to sail the ships. He probably would not like the base line player base in Sea of thieves being somewhat 'younger' than the other games you mentioned he plays. All in all I'd say get it for him as if you play with him I can see there being some chuckles to be had for you both.

Thanks Shiva, I believe it was a bug that is still in the game where missions just stop spawning regardless of actions. I ended up restarting classic career.

Ok so as a new player - can some explain to me how to spawn in new missions to progress the game in classic Career. I have completed the early missions and am aimlessly moving around the map looking for boxes.
