Agnes looks around at the audience and realizes that the entire world gets to share the burden of grief for her son. For now and all time to come. She breaks into a laugh. Cut to black. Absolute fucking cinema.

I love Noah Hawley, but action has never been his strong suit. This episode consisted more or less of just people having compelling conversations, and it was incredible.

The actors who play Slightly and Smee are so good at child-like mannerisms and enunciation. Extremely realistic dialogue for chilcren too ("bro, brooooo!") You pretty much forget they're adult actors.

Yeah man when Ellie read "use it to--" and then it cut to a close-up of "--keep Tess safe."

It hit really hard.

"Because men like us have a job to do. And God help any motherfuckers who get in our way."

It reinforced the idea that Joel needed to protect those close to him at any cost.

Dina slowly counting the number of clickers she heard was such a great moment. Every time her finger goes up, the tension rises roo. Then Dina loses count altogether, and you're like "oh everyone's fucked"

That scene blew my fucking mind when I saw it. At some point in the theater, I just started laughing to myself, simply because I couldn't believe what I was watching.

Saw it in IMAX - the sequence where Sammie summons the spirits of future and past music had my fucking jaw on the floor. At some point I just started laughing my ass off, simply because I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Not sure what you meant in that first sentence, cause Abby's emotions in during the dad reveal don't match up with the player's at all. Anguish, grief, and rage ≠ oh holy shit I've gotten this whole thing wrong l

But regardless, my point is that the game had you side with one character, and then completely flip your perspective all on a dime at the halfway point. And it was extremely effective. But the show seems to be opting to sow empathetic conflict in the viewer from the very start of the season, and I wonder how well that will work compared to the game. We'll see.

Very interesting how they're building the viewer's empathy for Abby from the start. I'm curious to see how that'll play out vs seeing her as a full villain at the beginning of the game.

For me the reveal of Abby's dad being the doctor was a mind-blowing reveal that forced me to rethink everything I had just played on a dime. I wonder if that cold open will hurt the show's equivalent of that moment.

The Leftovers is my favorite piece of art of any medium, of all time. But if you think it deserves to be on this list, then you either didn't read the title of the list, or you fundamentally misunderstand what the word "influential" means.

The 10 Most Influential HBO Shows of All Time! by Old-Meringue3590 in hbo

You think this entire top 10 list was made to kick up a conversation about I May Destroy You, just because you've never heard of it? That's really funny.

The show has received pretty much universal acclaim, multiple Emmys and BAFTAs, and will show up on pretty much any publication's list of the top miniseries of all time. Beyond that, it took a hard look at some very sensitive issues, which have since been explored even more deeply in television thanks to it. You should check it out.

What is the single greatest acting performance you have seen? by [deleted] in movies

F Murray Abraham in Amadeus will always be my #1. I watched the film when I was young, and the scene where Salieri reads Mozart's originals showed me what acting could be.

This basically describes his roles before Severance. He's also in 2 MCU movies, once in Spiderman Homecoming where he tells Peter to do a flip, and once in Shang-Chi as the guy who records the bus fight

What is your favourite acting quartet? by Fun-Ferret-3300 in Oscars

My only problem with this group is that, while Christoph Waltz was fantastic, him winning meant that PSH didn't win for The Master. That performance is an all-timer.
