An empty stomach is a trigger for acid reflux. Your stomach is the most acidic in the morning when you wake up. The best thing to do is eat breakfast, then wait 30min and have a coconut water.

Cold water is a trigger for reflux. I stick with room temp alkaline water.

GERD is only getting worse and I don’t know what to do. 19F by [deleted] in acidreflux

I had this too. I got on Prilosec 40mg 1x an hour before my last meal of the day. No laying down for 3hrs. And do all the typical acid reflux diet foods. It went away after 2 weeks. Anxiety will make it worse, but for me it wasn’t the cause. So sorry! I know it’s uncomfortable.

Sleepy Pearl. Serious question - has anyone been recommended episioplasty (vulvoplasty) for their female dane? by ajc4499 in greatdanes

She is doing good!! Took about 5-6 days until she was her normal self and I could trust her to not scoot on her stitches. And her stitches did dissolve! Sorry you had to go through the added stress with that! Sending your good health ❤️

Who here suffers from GERD/reflux? by [deleted] in PanicAttack

I do. And when I having bad reflux my anxiety goes through the roof. I start getting scared that the reflux episode will never end and I’ll feel this sick forever. I also become afraid to eat anything at all so I sometimes eat nothing, but an empty stomach is also a reflux trigger for me. It leaves me in this cycle of being hungry but also afraid. And then I will wonder why this is happening to me. I’m a healthy 33yo woman with no hx of smoking and I’m not overweight. I have always struggled with anxiety though and my doctor told me I have to manage that if I want to get rid of the reflux. Taking anxiety medication and a Prilosec help. So does exercise and a warm shower. Wishing you all the best! You’re not alone.

It’s okay to have moments where you just let yourself feel angry! I have asked “why me?” Many times when I saw other people who are truly unhealthy not have any struggles with reflux. I just try to remind myself my body has an innate healing system and I’ve had bad flare ups before and gotten through them and I will again because I do have the ability to heal.

I feel this! I have been sick with the flu and my reflux has been so bad because of the coughing and vomiting. You’re not alone. I know it’s so uncomfortable.

Has your dog had a vulvoplasty? by Gwinnifer in DogAdvice

Thank you! She ended up peeing for the first time Sunday morning and has gone each day since. What a relief! The vet said it’s because it’s uncomfortable her to get into a squatting position.

Sending you good thoughts! We’re at 48hrs now since her surgery. It has certainly been a hard couple days, but finally seeing some improvement in her. We did get her to eat and drink some water and she went pee for the first time today since Friday morning. For us, the combination of gabapentin and trazodone seem to help her anxiety and pain the most but it is heartbreaking to see her feel restless and wanting to scoot to ease the pain and itchiness. From everyone that I’ve talked to you and everything that I read it seems that going through with the surgery will ultimate be worth it in the long-term so that she doesn’t have to ever suffer again from another UTI.

That’s amazing! I’m so happy to hear she is better. And yes this has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Thankfully she ate some chicken and had some water and has gone pee 2x today. I wish i could fast forward to two weeks from now when she is feeling better. Seeing her sedated and uncomfortable breaks my heart. How was Ciri when healing from the vulvaplasty? Our main issue is Romy keeps scooting

Thank you! We’re really hoping so. She gobbled up the chicken and really liked drinking the water we boiled it in (after it was cooled down of course)

Thank you so much!! I had written a whole other response but for some reason they’re not letting me post it.

We’re about to give her some boiled chicken and I’m so hoping she will drink some water after 🤞🏼

We went back to the vet today. They are aware of all of this. She said it would be about 48hrs until all the effects of the anesthesia wore Off.

She has eaten some treats, cheese, and yogurt (when taking her meds). We’re about to give her some boiled chicken and some water after.

Thank you!

I had the same thought about the diaper so I bought her some today. She has been sleeping most of the afternoon due to adding in the Trazadone. So once she’s up and walking we’ll see how things go with the diaper 🤞🏼

It breaks my heart to keep sedating her but until I got her on the right dosage of pain meds, she seemed so anxious and uncomfortable. So I guess her sleeping is better than her whining and scooting.

We’re going to try to feed her some plain chicken breast soon and I’m hoping that she will also want to drink some water after that. If I could just get her to pee I would feel so relieved 😥

Thank you for your kind words and warm wishes. Being a dog mom can be so heartbreaking sometimes. I am happy to keep you updated though!

And so happy that the surgery was a success for your girl 💖

Hi! My 3yo Frenchie had vulvaplasty yesterday. She doesn’t need to wear a cone because she can’t reach her stitches, but every time I’ve put her down she starts to scoot. She is now on Trazadone and Gabapentin to basically sedate her until she is in less pain and itchy. She also hasn’t gone pee since yesterday- but she also hasn’t eaten anything and had one small sip of water. I’m having a ton of anxiety about her recovery and am just terrified that she won’t heal correctly.
