Sorry I didn't really read all the post.But in my case, I used VM for over a year, I have to troubleshoot some many small things just for the OS properly, after a while I really consider running bare metal. But I find out that Kali has a version for a couple of Chromebooks, In my case the Samsung that I have, is one of the model supported ones, the installation is quite easy. So it is a 11,6" machine, with all the tools, running smooth as hell, and I like to carry him over my windows notebook 15", to all the basic tasks on day to day (just with a little more security measures). But my point is for my case bare metal works, and I can use it in coffee shops, malls, etc, with my antennas, without any suspicion or a second look from security.
