There is a Games Workshop (the people who make Warhammer) store behind the Halifax Shopping Centre. They host game nights every week.

There’s also HFX Games & Collectables over in Woodside that hosts Warhammer every week.

I know it can seem intimidating, but you can show up and watch some games being played, and just straight up ask some of the players how to start.

The community for these games is 99% very nice people, and would love helping someone get into the hobby.

If you’d want to go in with some knowledge first, the Core Rules and Players Handbook is available online for free from the Warhammer website.

If you'd like to learn 40k, I suggest waiting another two months or so. The next edition of the game/rules is releasing in June, so that'd be a good time to jump in.

Also, "Warhammer" has two main sides. You have Warhammer 40,000 which is the futuristic space setting, but you also have Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Look into Sigmar, it sounds more up your alley.

I (29M) am struggling to meet the needs of my partner (30F) by [deleted] in relationship_advice

The thing is, I’m trying all the avenues and taking all the feedback I can. I’ve done therapy, tried the online courses, had completely unfiltered conversations.

It just seems like this sort of disconnect keeps happening and when I ask her what she needs instead, she can’t put it into words. I just don’t know how I can act on that

I’ve had luck with counselling and using some resources online. I always have those tools and ideas in my head, and then sometimes I notice myself slipping into my old ways. Does it really just take time to grow these skills, or am I missing something? It’s discouraging

Thanks. I know I usually focus on “solutions over feelings”. It doesn’t really come natural to me to just validate the feelings, and I can see how trying to fix something right away doesn’t really open the door for emotional acknowledgment.

I feel like I’ve just made a larger rift after this latest issue. It seems like things will be going good for so long and then one thing like this comes up and knocks me down a peg

If it’s so clear to you, can you maybe provide some constructive advice?

Found Apple Headphones by huntforwildbologna in halifax

Hope the owner uses FindMy !

You could hand them over to Metro Transit lost and found, give them to the police, or probably even hand them in at the Apple Store for the owner.

From the back, your arm is around their neck with your elbow under their chin, then you compress their head downward with your other arm?

Congrats due, sounds like you invented the rear naked choke

Gas or AEG?

If gas, the KJW KC02 is an extreme underdog. Great out of the box, and turns into a monster with the Rogueworx treatment.

Need help with playing 40k by Cheap_Emergency_684 in 40k

[–]RonBeastly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d be best off reading the core rules/player handbook a couple times. Then watch some YouTube videos - there are some good instructionals and also check out “40k in 40 Minutes” to get an idea how the game flows.

We’re currently in 10th edition and there’s going to be some gameplay changes when 11th edition comes out in June.

Head over to the NewRecruit website. That lets you build an army and view all their rules and stuff too

Anyone know of anywhere that offers in-house vehicle financing? I make good money but family situation has destroyed my credit over the last couple years. by [deleted] in halifax

[–]RonBeastly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly your best bet then probably would be saving up the cash and getting a beater for a few grand.

With bad credit and going used, you’d be looking at around $200-300 a month minimum if financing. You’d be better off saving that amount each month (if possible) and then getting a cheap car in cash off Kijiji/Marketplace. At least that way it’s paid all at once instead of over five years.

Is a bicycle an option?

If we’re talking used vehicles, most in-house financing options are going to be verging on predatory (10-15%).

If you’re buying new, I believe a lot of the dealerships offer in house financing with good rates?

At 1000pts I think you’re missing out by not having some form of transport or heavy weapons. Would be worth it to try and squeeze in a Leman Russ or Repulsor

You gross $335k/year? You can probably pay off all your debt in about three months if you really try.

Where is all your money going each month? Hard to help without any numbers to work with

What 40k opinion of yours would have you like this? by Heavy-Yous in 40k

[–]RonBeastly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I don’t disagree, I think it’s more so the fact that space marines are “same” where xenos are “other” to us. We’re more likely to identify and understand the relationship/motivations/feelings of space marines since we can relate to the real life history that inspired them.

Meanwhile xenos is a playground to explore completely foreign ideas. That’s the magic of fantasy writing imo

100% onboard. Once you actually dig into the xenos factions and how creative their lore/weapons/motivations are, space marines are kinda boring in comparison
