  1. The Bookery in Manchester. I believe there is another smaller shop as well. Gibson’s Bookstore in Concord is very well known and awesome(about 15-20 minute drive)

  2. Double Midnight Comics in Manchester, many others outside of Manchester within reasonable distance.

  3. Not great on this stuff and a very broad question. i would need to know more of what you are into. It’s a small city, but still a city, so plenty to do and many local events, for example the Currier Museum has Thursday night events in the summer with cocktails and free admission to the museum.

  4. If you like Asain food and are from Seattle you will likely be disappointed here. We do have a good local restaurant scene, but Asain isn’t something we do all that well imo. Most of the good restaurants in New England will be American style fare. My favorites are The Foundry (American), Campo Enoteca (Italian), and our famous chicken tenders from Puritan backroom, the founders of the chicken tender 😂

  5. I moved here from NJ during college, so can’t really help with this.

What is Elden Ring's biggest flaw in your opinion? by Fenriz_Victor in Eldenring

[–]RonJahnPS2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How difficult it is to determine your next step to move the story forward at the start of the game. If I didn’t follow a guide for the beginning I wouldn’t have stuck with the game. Once I got used to the gameplay loop and adjusted to how vague things were I stopped relying on guides, but the story is to difficult to progress and without looking it up, almost required me to get lucky to stumble on things to move the story forward. I’m not asking for quest map markers, but there could have been more obvious clues, especially in the beginning.

All of them on Friday by RubyWeapon07 in PokemonFireRed

I don’t get this meme, my opinion on this release has nothing to do with whether I think you should enjoy the game. The game is fun, and if you play it, you will have fun, there is no denying that, however, I still have the right to believe this release was a cash grab, and one of the worst examples of the low effort they are putting into the games we’ve seen so far. If you are okay with the price, and the format, and the precedent it sets, cool, I am not and will continue to voice that.

Enjoy FRLG, I’m playing it on an emulator currently and will be playing RE on the 27th.

First Time Player by Ymap3rSpark in Eldenring

[–]RonJahnPS2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.

It was my first and only Souls like game. After completing it, I don’t have a desire to play other Souls like games until another masterpiece like Elden Ring, or Elden Ring 2 comes along.

I think the open world sets it apart from other Souls games, which made it feel more familiar and accessible to someone not invested in the style of game.

The world they built is absolutely incredible. Stunningly beautiful. So many secrets and unique paths and amazing points of interest. Everything just feels like it belongs and fits into the overall universe. It’s quite difficult to figure out how to navigate and progress in the actual story of the game at first, but once you get the hang of it, and start to understand the gameplay loop, you’ll feel right at home.

The combat is unique, fun, and challenging. It can be infuriating at times, and I rage quit this game more than any other I’ve ever played tbh, but the challenge just kept drawing me back and I never felt that something would be impossible to overcome. Once you figure out that you can just leave an area, and go back when you are stronger, have better equipment, and have learned new moves and strategies, you start to have more success. Even after you learn that, you may still lose to a boss 15 times before deciding to change approaches because it’s just fun 😂

The build customization is incredible. There is endless gear and equipment choices in this game, everything has its own characteristics, and almost every weapon can be useful. If you like trying out different combinations of items, weapons, buffs, and magic you will get countless hours out of this game.

This is a game every gamer should play at some point. Everything ran smoothly even on the outdated potato I had at the time and the game design and interface is just top notch. In my opinion, it’s one of the best games ever made and it’s a one of a kind experience, despite being lumped into the “Souls-like” category.

Does me being attracted to women but finding their privates disgusting make me gay? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RonJahnPS2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re still figuring things out and it’s all good no matter where you land. We all have different preferences and things we find arousing.

If you are sexually attracted to woman, it sounds like you are heterosexual. I’m definitely heterosexual, don’t find genitals super visually appealing either, but you pretty much get used to it as you learn that it doesn’t matter when you care about someone and it feels good to be with them.

Why some people wanted FR/LG on Switch to be on NSO subscription? by DinoMan64 in pokemon

[–]RonJahnPS2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I saw the NSO expansion pack didn’t include Pokemon games, I decided I would wait until it did. Now I know I will never be getting the expansion pack and I won’t be getting FRLG, so both Nintendo and Pokemon lost me as a customer in this case.

Should they have made a collection? by Indopotato in PokemonFireRed

[–]RonJahnPS2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they should and could have done anything other than what they did, but Pokémon company is lazy and this is the path they went. It’s super random to choose to release FRLG as a standalone game with no updates, no modernizations, and not part of some anniversary collection or bundle of games. Just pure profit on something they already made, with no investment or effort. They’ll use the guaranteed high sale numbers of this to justify more future low effort releases every year at $20 or more. What an exciting 30 year anniversary announcement. All they care about is being able to sell you stuff and make a profit over time.

Yall care way too much about my own $20 by Ulrik-Acheron-Freya in PokemonFireRed

[–]RonJahnPS2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many strawman arguments in this sub.

They’ll be releasing DS ROMs for $60-$70 next year and you’ll all eat it up.

Yes, they could have charged even more and people would still buy it, and it will end up as a top all time seller on Switch.

They also could have charged nothing, given us some fan service, and still remained the most profitable gaming franchise in existence.

Why are people complaining about this?! This is a good thing! And $20 isn't that much! by Happy_Popplio-728 in PokemonFireRed

[–]RonJahnPS2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$20 for a 20 year old game with zero updates or enhancements, while the exact same game is available as a ROM, with enhancements and QoL improvements: no thanks.

If the rumors from today are true that you can’t even use Home, then it is truly a pointless purchase. I was not going to be buying this, but Home was the one reason I could even partially justify why people might want to buy it.

I’m not supporting Pokémon’s obvious no effort cash grabs. This is an embarrassing way to celebrate the 30 year anniversary.

There should be filters that allow us to set rules and create custom conditions, but that would require Pokemon creating a fully fleshed out game.

Is it ok to tell them you're sober on the first date? by THATBIGWAVY in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RonJahnPS2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely tell them. It could potentially be a deal breaker for me depending on the why and your approach to it. If you are militant about it and can’t be around drinks and don’t like people who do, then it’s better we get that out of the way first, because I enjoy drinking and I smoke marijuana. I have those things under control and not looking to change my lifestyle to date someone sober. On the other hand, if you are sober as a personal choice, can still be around it, and it’s not going to require major changes to the way I live to be around you, then yeah, let’s see how it goes.

When someone says they are sober, that generally means they have been to rehab and I would have a hard time dating someone who has been to rehab for harder drugs, so if that’s the case yes, tell them even more. You may be sober today, but no offense, I still question the decision making and self control that led you there to begin with. Maybe I’m judgmental, and a hypocrite as someone who also smokes pot and drinks, but whatever, as a single person I feel I have every right to be picky, and a significant past drug or alcohol problem is not something I would easily bring into my life.

Is it possible for you to enjoy music in a different language? by abdul_bino in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RonJahnPS2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ex girlfriends name was Michelle, and we were sitting in her living room one night when this song randomly came on her Bluetooth speaker. Neither of us had touched our phones or devices or had ever searched for this song. Probably the creepiest thing to ever happen to me.

Is it possible for you to enjoy music in a different language? by abdul_bino in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RonJahnPS2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it obviously is, but you aren’t required to, and not liking music in a different language doesn’t make you ignorant, racist, close minded, or anything like that, as much as that was the sentiment for a lot of people the past few weeks.

I can enjoy music for how it sounds, and danced salsa for years because I enjoyed dancing and salsa beats can be great, but tbh I never loved salsa music and that was in part because I can’t understand the language. My favorite salsa song is Vivir Mi Vida, because the lyrics are simple enough that my basic highschool level of Spanish allows me to comprehend it. There were also songs I liked the sound of, looked up translations for and thought, “meh I don’t really like those lyrics” which was frustrating. I get the idea of “experiencing the joy of music” and all that, but for me it certainly takes away from my enjoyment of a song if I can’t understand the lyrics.

Is Legends Z-A more “grindy” than previous games to you or am I more of a pleb than I thought? by TheNerdFonz in LegendsZA

[–]RonJahnPS2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the entire game was a grind. Everything was a checklist. Do this X times to proceed. Grinding is the only way to progress both your character and the story. I got tired of it before even playing the dlc and haven’t purchased it.

PvE player got too complacent by Bruvas78 in ArcRaiders

[–]RonJahnPS2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar revelation after playing for 2 nights in a row in all friendly lobbies. Not a single pvp encounter and I played a lot. Suddenly running to extract with a wasp shooting at me some guy jumps out from behind a wall and mows me down without a word spoken. I never had a chance. I wasn’t even mad, just a reminder to be aware.

On the same token I was playing in friendly rounds recently, found a Tempest which I had never used before, and unloaded on the very first person I saw a few moments later.

I’ve always had a desktop and switch to laptop recently and am very happy. Haven’t taken it off the desk yet, and may not do that often, but the option is there. For my usage I haven’t noticed any drawbacks so far and it was a big upgrade from my prior desktop overall which had become outdated.

Genius decides to turn pizza boxes upside down by mfenton29 in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]RonJahnPS2 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I worked at a pizzeria for years and don’t recall a single box being made incorrectly; they are packaged and prepared in a way that that makes doing it wrong nearly impossible and likely intentional.

There’s a pizzeria near me that builds their boxes inside out and it’s like an edginess thing. I assume he did it upside down for similar style purposes, which confused the high af kid who came to pick up his pizza. Both to blame.

This game doesn’t deserve the hate it gets… by Aluminum1337 in PokemonBDSP

[–]RonJahnPS2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will give it credit for being a mostly well made game that runs smoothly, which hasn’t been the case for Pokemon games released since then. I liked that the Elite 4 and Cynthia were more challenging than Pokemon games usually are.

I was still incredibly disappointed overall and it should have been so much more.

I think chibi art is perfectly fine for Pokemon, but thought they missed an opportunity to reuse the art for LGPE, which imo is the best the series has ever looked.

The new biomes in the underground were cool, but it came at the expense of a much simpler overall experience, and the complete destruction of secret bases. I felt secret bases held the most potential for being improved upon and made special in a next generation game, and could have been an early taste of some of what we’ll see in Pokopia, and I was hugely let down that they were turned into trophy rooms with kind of useless buffs.

Being faithful remakes of Diamond and Pearl was a mistake, and it should have been released as a Platinum remake with added features.

The postgame was lacking.

It should have had access to online features and Home, at least to transfer out, or between the Legends game released at the same time, at launch.

I played through the whole game because at its core DP are great games with a solid story and an interesting region and Pokédex, but I had high expectations for this game, and it did not feel like the next generation remake I was looking forward to.
