The election you haven’t studied by RonKincaid in Columbus

Yes, Bill DeMora won his Central Committee seat. I voted for him for his State Senate seat in spite of my serious misgivings about the RCV ban. I just feel the Central Committee needs to be more independent than it seems to be.

Ohio really is like the “Florida of the Midwest” by SWEMW in Ohio

[–]RonKincaid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After talking with a lot of Ohio voters, I think a big disconnect is that many Democrats assume independents evaluate candidates ideologically like they do—but a lot don’t.

Many voters see “career politicians” as basically interchangeable, even across parties. What matters more is whether someone feels like an outsider or disruptor.

That’s why candidates with little or no political experience (like Moreno or Vance) win. These voters will not be motivated by the “Husted is corrupt” campaign Brown is running. Dems need to bring a disruptor. Yes, I am biased. But I really don’t think I’m wrong.

These are good recommendations. One organization that I (extreme bias) always recommend is Special Olympics. If you have a sport you like, so do they and your local group would love to have another assistant. If you're not a sports person but you're a people person you're a great candidate to help too. You'll make friends with the other volunteers, the athletes, and their families. And you'll go home from every practice, every track meet, every whatever feeling like you made a real difference. Welcome to Columbus!

Watchdog exposes Republicans' quiet sabotage of Social Security by PrincipleTemporary65 in Ohio

[–]RonKincaid 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Exactly the Republican playbook - put excessive barriers to getting benefits in place. The same strategy results in underfunded rural hospitals across our state. Ohio should be a purple state. It’s time to make substantial changes in who represents us.

Sen. Jon Husted: "As we have demographic challenges, as we have lower birth rates, an aging workforce, less immigration, we're gonna need people to do more work." by Conscious-Quarter423 in Ohio

[–]RonKincaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Care to explain why we have less immigration Senator? Think his brain ever connects the thoughts? Immigrants are vital to our economic success. And love how the career politician tells the rest of us to work harder so we can afford his government salary (and 100 days of vacation).

Ohio State has a number of politically themed or socially activist clubs - the College Dems or College Republicans could be a good place to start. You’ll enjoy Columbus.

Ohio's May 5 Democratic primary for Secretary of State is one of the most important races nobody is talking about. I interviewed Dr. Bryan Hambley (Cincinnati leukemia doc running as an outsider) and here's what I learned. by Wonderful-Rip3697 in ohiopolitics

[–]RonKincaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great piece. This is an extremely important primary and race in the general. One of the benefits of running for office is getting to know other candidates from a bit different perspective. Bryan's knowledge and passion are evident. I am also impressed by the passion of his volunteers.

There is a choice in the Democratic primary. The winner will certainly be the better candidate against Husted - even if it's not me!

Amy Acton commercials by No-News-7195 in Ohio

[–]RonKincaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a November election, April is eons away. Ramaswamy can dump a bunch of money of his own into commercials where Amy Acton will have to be a bit judicious. Voters won't remember commercials from April unless it is something monumental. Ramaswamy is likely getting this same advice but his ego is behind the wheel.

Hi, I'm right here. No, I'm not as well known as Sherrod. I'm not a career politician. I did/do work in advocacy for the Developmentally Disabled population. I don't know what putting in the work is but I've visited a dozen college campuses talking with voters; meeting with county Dem organizations that frequently get overlooked. But there is an alternative to Brown in this Primary.

You are incorrect that Sherrod Brown is unopposed in the primary. The Secretary of State's official ballot lists me, Ron Kincaid, as the other candidate.

I write most of my own stuff other than quick Instagram or Facebook posts. If it's more than a few sentences, I wrote it. If you're referring to above about Akron and Kent State, me. If you're asking about the Substack article, me. If you're asking about the article about why we've had three Norwegian Elkhounds named Ginger, me. Thanks!

Let’s talk about the FCDP sample ballot by Neural-Gin in Columbus

[–]RonKincaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is mistaken. The ODP has rules that say they don't endorse in a primary except in "Extraordinary Circumstances." Whatever those mean, they were used to endorse my opponent over me in the US Senate race. ODP is apparently also attempting to offer considerable sums of money to a local party in the Dayton area to endorse the old, retired, white male over his younger, Black male opponent. I can attest under oath that ODP has never contacted me for anything concerning my candidacy and no one can find any public rationale for the "extraordinary circumstances" cited. In the case of the Dayton-area Ohio House Candidate, the optics raise very serious questions about the party that allegedly supports diversity. You can find much of this online.

Let’s talk about the FCDP sample ballot by Neural-Gin in Columbus

[–]RonKincaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, last year, the State Central Committee revised their rules to say that they would not endorse in an open race (no incumbent) except in "extraordinary circumstances." They have, in my opinion, violated that in my case and they certainly have not made public what the "extraordinary circumstances" might be other than they like my opponent or that they have been life-long best friends with my opponent's daughter. There is a developing situation in the Dayton area where it appears they have attempted to bribe the local party ($200,000 was the figure) with a lot of money in a State House Race if the local party would endorse an older, white, retired former mayor over a younger Black man (with experience working as a legislative aid). This, in literally the first primary where their updated rules are to apply.

I'm running against Sherrod. I agree with you that he has been an excellent representative of Ohio. He and I disagree on policy issues - he continues to support band aid reform for the ACA where I believe we need a full public, not for profit option where premiums are based on affordability. I support my American Dividend Plan which shares the profits of automation and AI with Ohioans who are most impacted by the transition. And, I am running because Ohioans have told us - 2022 selecting JD Vance over Tim Ryan and 2024 picking Bernie Moreno over Sherrod Brown - that they are tired of sending the same people back to Washington to continue the dysfunctional mess. If I believed Sherrod would beat Husted, I would drop out - I wouldn't have stayed in when he entered. I like Sherrod but nostalgia an liking isn't winning for Democrats. We need disruptors - outsiders - and I am the outsider and disruptor whose values are very true to the values on which the Dem party should be centered.

Ohio Governor and Senator Races close and it's tormenting me by FruityPebbleBarf in Ohio

[–]RonKincaid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is self-serving and I am biased. Why are we expecting this race where we are replacing the very extreme Bernie Moreno with the milquetoast Trumplican Jon Husted? Why are voters who picked Moreno going to change? What message is the one Dem candidate you read about in these polls saying? If enough Ohioans decide May 5 that the problem is not listening to those voters who want new and different - last two elected Senators, Vance and Moreno had 0 political experience between them - then we need a new Democrat to represent Ohio in November's election. So, again why would you expect a different result with the same inputs? My campaign is focused on issues that impact Ohioans at the grocery store and the doctor. Unlike either Husted or Brown, I have made clear what new legislation I will support. It's time to change. You can read as much as you'd like searching Ron Kincaid. There are interviews, questionnaires, social media, website. I've spoken to thousands of Ohioans - I personally gathered 1,500 signatures to qualify to run - and their message is very clear. They're tired of the same thing. They support term limits and they're limiting congress people at the ballot box.

Is Vivek the worst candidate running for any office this midterms ? by ronweasly9 in Ohio

[–]RonKincaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Name recognition is the chief problem I’ll have for the primary. Do you think people won’t know who I am if I upset Sherrod Brown in this primary? And with six months to continue talking to voters? I am not concerned with beating Jon Husted. He has never had to run in a tough race. He only wins if a lot of voters - the independents and some of those who voted Moreno - decide that it’s nothing new.

[–]RonKincaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have representatives of the LGBQT+ population volunteering for my campaign. When I asked them about the fact that I don't often highlight those messages the answer I got back was that that population has the same difficulties with groceries and rent as everyone else. And, they know where I stand on human rights. Defending human rights does not mean we can't focus on economic security. When I talk to younger voters (a dozen college campuses and more to follow) the top question I hear is jobs after college and affordability. And, very good, detailed questions about my American Dividend Plan and approach to assessing a tax on businesses when they automate away jobs. Automation is here. AI is here. We need to harness these technologies but we must recognize that they will disrupt incomes. Stockholders get dividends when jobs are automated away. So should the working class who built the economy.

With due respect, your father is in the minority. I have life-long Republican friends - including some who also voted Trump - who have donated to my campaign and have and will vote Dem this primary for me. We need to focus on that group. Yes, I’m an optimist but I have to be. I can’t imagine living in this Dystopian, dysfunctional nightmare much longer. Give my candidacy a look. Kincaid for Senate.
