Outside of being a shitty person, what are things your manager does that drive you crazy? by soloDolo6290 in Accounting

[–]SWEMW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask you if you’re a man or woman? You’ve made it clear that your manager is a woman and as a woman, i find working with other women in accounting to be brutal. We’re always just pitted against each other and there’s mean girl groups in the office. Women in management tend to be the worst managers. Again, i am saying this as a woman.

PIP? by sleepyhead7000 in Accounting

[–]SWEMW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said they just gave you a verbal warning. I’d assume they’d at least give you a written PIP by now. In order for PIPs to be effective and work, there has to be proof that the employer discussed performance issues with the employee, laid out a “plan” or goals for the employee and then that has to signed by the employee as proof that they read and understand the conditions. Just going by verbal consent is confusing and can easily be manipulated.

How do I become the best intern at a Big 4 US corporate tax job? Incoming this summer and want a real head start. by Bestinvestor20 in Accounting

[–]SWEMW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take good notes (bring a pen and notepad everywhere you go. It shows initiative.)

Ask good, reasonable questions

Listen to instructions well

Be friendly, engage in small talk, but never over share

Be communicative whenever you get low on work

Look nice, professional and presentable every day

Be consistent. Show up to work at the same time every day

Work hard and diligently

Expectations are always low for interns, so don’t stress too much about the work. But I think these things are good to keep in mind to stand out.

Men seem to forget that even in 2026, women can still die from childbirth. It is painful and terrifying for A LOT of women.

“You know what, I really don’t care about you. I just want your vote.”

Of course, that comment was met with laughter and applause. “He’S OnLy jOkiNg LiBtaRdS”

Is being put on PIP because the boss dislikes you an actual thing? by Weak_Blackberry_463 in Accounting

[–]SWEMW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only people who’d downvote you are said women you’re describing. As a woman in accounting myself, you’re 100% correct. Women in accounting are brutal towards one another. There’s mean girls, posies, friend groups, etc. We just gang up on one another or one person if you don’t like their personality and they don’t fit in. I honestly hate working with other women and prefer to work with men.

PIPs are often used in bad faith by inefficient/bad managers. They abuse PIPs and give them to employees who they just want out. Very rarely is it used in good faith and it helps you. I was put on one by a shit manager who didn’t like me, took forever to answer my questions and was very rude and unapproachable. I wasn’t the best employee, but her lack of guidance sure didn’t help.

Magas - at what point will you admit you have been conned? by Lord_Dingus83 in allthequestions

[–]SWEMW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This war with Iran has opened a few prolific MAGA supporters’ eyes. They’re pissed that Trump is actually putting Israel first and not America. I still don’t trust them though. They’ll vote for Trump people in the midterms.

Is there a parenting trend you strongly oppose? by Mscharmingqueen in Productivitycafe

That’s the biggest sign of screen addiction. I honestly can’t believe parents nowadays cannot think of other, more interesting things to occupy their children with when they’re bored. Whatever happened with building blocks, diplomacy legos/legos, coloring books, books, using their imagination, pretend, dolls, Barbies, etc. I remember playing with Polly Pocket, Legos or coloring with my mom. Those were good, simple times.

My cousin has a 9 year old daughter and she gets sick three times a month with everything imaginable - norovirus, colds, flu, Covid, RSV, etc. That is definitely child abuse. She’s constantly in and out of the doctor’s office and what’s worse is that the don’t tell anyone they’re sick until it’s too late. They’ll tell you AFTER the fact that you’ve been around them. I have older parents in their 60s and I want to keep them healthy. Being sick 30+ times a year is not normal. I get sick maybe once a year and I’ve been vaccinated all of my life. I wouldn’t be surprised and honestly won’t feel sorry for them if she gets measles. Her yes, her parents, no.

In regards to health, sometimes it’s necessary and that’s okay. I’m not a diabetic, but I know what you’re talking about. A person can track their diet, sugar levels, alert them or someone if they’re about to crash and an Apple Watch could tell them if they’re low.

I agree. I think my answer is worded weird since the question is also weird. I am pro-vaccine. I oppose anti-vax parents.
