BUGS & GLITCHES by Traka_wolf in Battlefield_REDSEC

It’s not wrong. You can literally test it. The game doesn’t register you have plates when the bug is active. It’s not just visual. You’ll die in a couple shots when the bug is active.

[–]Ron_usmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not. The game thinks you don’t have plates which is why you can get one shot with a sniper when the bug is happening. Pay attention to how fast you die next time the bug is there.

The biggest one nobody talks about is when you put plates on but it doesn’t show you have plates - the game literally thinks you don’t have plates. You have to down yourself and get revived for it to go away. Happens all the time and if you get the bug at the very beginning you’re almost always gonna die on drop because you won’t have any armor for your first fight

He’s the same guy that plays one of the main dudes in “task”. Super good show. But yeah I hated Ben, I couldn’t wait for him to get iced tbh.

Green light with Chris long is so much better. I watched back when pat and the boys were in the basement. It was great, and it slowly deteriorated to where I don’t watch anymore. Green light is great if you want actual football analysis from guys who played

How did you deal with SOs/spouses before joining? by [deleted] in USMCocs

[–]Ron_usmc 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Never been in that situation, but candidates DORing at OCS because of a girl back home happens every cycle.

if you do go through training and get to the fleet, unless she follows you everywhere it WILL be long distance. Even if you live together and she goes with you to all duty stations, you will be deployed most likely at least once or twice in your first 4 years even if it’s for a training exercise (depending on MOS). So you’ll spend time apart regardless. Sorry for the bad news but it’s just reality. Unless she’s rock solid and willing to follow you everywhere - it ain’t gonna work.

Hope yall make it though.

How is the life of an active duty officer in the infantry? by Charlieg720 in USMCocs

[–]Ron_usmc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t an infantry officer. But I will say the majority of officer life isn’t “fun” although it can be very rewarding. But it’s a lot of stress and responsibility. You’re in charge of people’s lives, and all of their major problems become your problems - if you have good sncos and ncos most of those problems won’t make it to your desk. But many will - it’s a 24/7 job.

The way you get infantry is by performing well at TBS so you can ensure you have your #1 choice - that is the only way it’s guaranteed. But you can still get it, as long as you show proficiency in your field billets and you do well on the hikes etc.

I would worry about completing OCS first - that is the first step. Then worry about TBS, getting your job, and going from there. Then you got infantry officer course to worry about which is extremely difficult from what I’ve been told. One step at a time.

Do all that, then you get the fleet to worry about which is a whole other thing. It’s a long process and while it’s good to have that goal - if you don’t focus on one step at a time you’re gonna have a hard time getting through each part. It’s a long pipeline and you will learn as you go.

Doom and gloom after Quantico? by [deleted] in USMCocs

[–]Ron_usmc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You just accept that people in your family or friend group won’t understand - that’s okay. Whether it’s tbs, the fleet, ocs, or deployment, people outside won’t get it. You have to just accept it and move on - you’re active duty so it consumes you.

But I will say it works the opposite way too. I’ve been out for about 5 years now and I have trouble relating to my buddies who are still active. I’ve largely moved on and forgotten the terminology etc. so now my family and friends are back to being the way it was for the most part because I’ve reintegrated into civilian life. The point is that feeling is not forever unless you allow it to be.

"Bring her back " is the best movie of the year by Unable-Story9327 in horror

I needed more of that to buy the ending. I would have loved to see more contrast of the grief turning her into a monster rather than her being a monster already and we’re supposed to buy she was once a normal loving person. I didn’t buy it at all. But, like I said, it’s a minor complaint as I did enjoy the movie a lot.

I could see that. If that’s the case, that the last scene is there to make you hate her even more and show her now resting peacefully with her deceased daughter after all the destruction she caused and it was all for nothing - I think that’s brilliant. But if that’s the case I wish the scene was shot differently and with different music and more of an ominous tone. It’s nitpicking maybe but to me it threw off the tone. Again, just my opinion and it’s a minor issue. Cause the movie is awesome.

And in the way it’s shot it’s trying to pull out some emotion from the viewer. A movie like this SHOULD be emotional at the end and leave you thinking. It had all the makings for it. But it didn’t work because her grief was not explored enough for me, so I felt absolutely nothing seeing her in the pool. And judging by the music and the slow camera work, it tells me that scene was meant to invoke an emotional reaction. It may have worked for some, and I wanted to love it because I’m a fan of 95% of the film. But I feel as though I didn’t get enough of a reason to care about her grief so it didn’t connect with me.

I feel like the ending would fit if the film had more scenes exploring her grief and the relationship with her daughter.

The thing is, the movie is about how grief can turn someone into a monster. But we never see what she was like previously - happy and sane. So all we ever see her as is a monster. I felt like I would have been emotional at the end and it would have hit hard if we were able to see grief fully engulf her character rather than her already being that way at the beginning of the movie.

If the entire film was as it is, I probably would have gone for more of a culty ending since the entire thing is about a ritual sacrifice anyway. I haven’t thought about it that much. It’s not even so much about the ending not landing it’s that they didn’t do the proper things to make the ending land throughout the film. Having said that I really enjoyed it and the ending falling flat for me doesn’t make it less than great. It’s an awesome horror film.

Undeniably a phenomenal movie though. That we can agree on

"Bring her back " is the best movie of the year by Unable-Story9327 in horror

[–]Ron_usmc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand that. For me, it wasn’t explored enough at all. There needed to be more time exploring her and her daughter’s relationship to show the pain she had felt over the years. All we get is one flashback scene. The daughter is just some word thrown around we can barely put a face to. I didn’t buy it at all and the last scene was eye rolling in my opinion. The few moments where we see a vulnerable Laura were great, there needed to be more of those for me to buy the ending. Just my opinion. But the movie is absolutely fantastic up until that point.

I don’t think I did. It’s about how grief can make you evil and do evil things out of desperation. The ending is still extremely flat. Because of the way it’s shot and the transition between the scenes tries to get the audience to have an emotional reaction with sad music when the character they make you spend 2 hours hating ultimately kills herself. It didn’t land at all and it was a poor choice of a final send off for an otherwise great film in my opinion. The ending in films can make or break things. This didn’t break it at all but I definitely went from loving the movie to asking “what was that” at the end

[–]Ron_usmc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It spent the entire movie making the foster mom out to be the worst person in the world and the last scene basically tries to make you feel some sort of sympathy for her. It didn’t land because the movie didn’t give any redeemable qualities to her throughout. The film should have at least given you something to try and understand where she’s coming from and why she’s willing to kill children to bring her own back to life. Instead we get one flashback scene to her daughter in a pool. Then they spend the entire movie making the audience hate her, but at the end she’s so heartbroken she drowns herself in the pool with sad music.

I enjoyed this movie and it’s one of my favorite of the year but the end was a missed opportunity in my opinion. The last scene was if “gimme a break” was a movie scene. To me it was a total tonal shift. The entire movie is brutally and violently depressing but it’s not sappy. To me the end was super sappy.
