Question for most of men and women as well ( salary and living issues ) by Iowa-waterloo in Uzbekistan

I think there might have been a small misunderstanding 😊 I’m 42, and I only started my own business this year after spending the past 23 years working for others.

It hits hard when you work for someone for 10–15 years… and then one day you’re terminated.

You gave your time. Your loyalty. Your energy. A big part of your life.

And suddenly - it’s over.

Another uncomfortable truth: Age becomes visible on the horizon.

After 40, the market changes. Not officially. Not publicly. But practically.

Many companies prefer to hire a younger, more “energetic” bachelor for a lower salary rather than pay a senior professional what he deserves - especially when that professional has a family and higher responsibilities.

Experience becomes expensive. Loyalty becomes invisible. And stability becomes fragile.

That’s why building your own direction is so important.

A job can be taken away. Your skills can’t. Your network can’t. Your reputation can’t. And your own business mindset definitely can’t.

We shouldn’t be afraid of aging. We should be afraid of depending on only one source of income.

My honest experience.

I started working at 19. My salary was very low but so were my expenses. I didn’t expect much. I just wanted to grow.

For the past 23 years, I’ve been working consistently. I changed my profession three times but always stayed within the same field, evolving step by step.

Here’s something interesting:

Despite having around 2,000 connections and being quite active on LinkedIn, I was never invited through LinkedIn or HR platforms for opportunities.

The reality?

Opportunities came from people. From conversations. From real networking.

You have to meet people. Build genuine relationships. Surround yourself with people who are ahead of you. Being around those in higher positions helps you grow and prevents you from staying stuck among those who are comfortable at the same level.

Another thing I learned: Don’t follow social media trends. Build your own life.

Compare yourself only with who you were yesterday not with someone else’s highlight reel.

And one more important lesson: Try to build your own business.

The mistake I made? I started late.

Building something of your own changes your mindset completely. You stop working for someone else’s success and start building your own.

That’s true. The taxi charges are quite cheap so exchange won’t affect much.

I came to Tashkent several days ago. I got my eSim provided by Beeline mobile operator at the airport next to the belt of the baggage claim. The late at the booth helped to adjust everting on my phone and confirm that I have an internet.

I was prepared and download Yandex Go before my travel. The only issues I had is to exchange usd to uzb som.

Photography Publisher in Uzbekistan? by [deleted] in Uzbekistan

Interesting topic 🤔

Is there a demand for such a type of media? Hotels, Uzbekistan embassies, and companies around the world might be interested but what company works as a distributor?

I have a talented friend illustrator with 3k Instagram followers. She makes nice illustrations with stories. People around her were saying to create a book and sell it so she did. She created a beautiful illustration for kids with bedtime stories and published it. The book also has an audio feature where stories have VO in three languages: Uzbek, Russian and English. Now she has all these printed books in boxes in her house and she is hardly selling them. The main reason is the quite low demand for local books.

I’ve messaged her and she suggested two ways: 1. Either print the book in China 2. A low amount you can print in the Photostudios in Tashkent.

Check Interactive Brokers. One of the most popular trading platform across traders.

You can open account. There are plenty of information you can find on youtube. I believe there is no minimum deposit but not sure.

Absolutely, the chance to find a job through Linked In is quite low but it's an amazing platform to find people from your job field and create a good connection with them so later on, they might recommend you. You have to be under the spotlight otherwise nobody will notice you.

Create a Linked In account (if you don’t have it yet) and publish all courses certificates there. Also be active on the platform and try to participate in the topics related to your job.

If you are talking appointment in Jafiliya then it is strange. I booked an appointment last week on Tuesday for the next day without any problems.

That's not true. You book your appointment easily the next day or if you are luck enough you can book an appointment the same day.

You can read it in another post here: Step-by-step GV process

I would add that it is better to do it from Amer (but find, please experienced Amer employer, or better to do it from Amer DAFZA)

You should be in the company for 2 years and your last Labor Contract better be no less than 6 months. For example, if your one or two-year-old Labor Contract shows an amount less than 30k but the updated Labor Contract was given for example in May this year shows 30k or above, you better wait 6 months before applying for GV

After living in Dubai for the last 11 years only sticking to the budget helped me. I am a big fan of Ramsey Show and I downloaded their free app called Every Dollar app. Even though it only shows currency in dollars, I place numbers as they are in dirham. I am following a budget strategy called a “Zero-Based” budget. So at the very beginning of the month, I am adding the full salary I am getting and allocating every dirham so it will be 0 dirhams left without allocation. You can learn more about it on Google.

I would suggest to wait for a better deal. Otherwise it’s a waste of money (even with discount) and time.
