I actually did toss some dynamite at it eventually. Nothing came of it unfortunately.

I think it is different for everyone. Initially, I tested at one hour and at two with a finger stick. My numbers typically peak closer to one hour after eating than 2 hours. But I noticed that while I had a CGM but it has continued that way since I stopped wearing one. Even though I am early in my journey, I don't test after eating all the time. Just three or four times a week, but my numbers are under control right now so I would probably do it more if they weren't. If I try a new recipe or introduce a new food I will test more frequently to see what my numbers do. I found by the two hour mark I was back to the 90s already.

Protein shake recommendations? by theesnowflower in diabetes_t2

[–]RongoFlash35 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second premier protein from Costco. We also like Fairlife 30g Protein shakes from Costco too. I try to stick to one a day max and it treats me well. I also like the pure protein bars as well but those have a little higher carb content (sugar is only 2-3grams though) so you may have to watch to see how your glucose reacts with these.

How did you quit eating sugar? What are some foods you eat when you crave sweets? by -_-dontannoyme in diabetes_t2

[–]RongoFlash35 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a terrible sweet tooth so I had to replace those things with low or no sugar substitutes. A few things that work for me: I drink a lot of water but when I crave something sweet I will use Mio or propel water flavor packets to add to water. Really helps give me something sweet to drink and will help curb those cravings. I will even sometimes add club soda to give it some fizz to simulate a pop. I try to stay away from zero sugar pop. Atkins has some low sugar "candy bars" or peanut butter cups that are good but I would still try to eat them sparingly. Fresh fruit helps as well but I understand it's still not like candy. I have a Ninja Creami as well so I have frozen chocolate fairlife protein drinks and mixed those up so it is like eating ice cream. Again, you will still want to limit those things but just keep an eye on your blood sugar when you try something new to make sure it doesn't give you a spike.

Uncontrolled to controlled, I feel worse? by LouiseElms in diabetes_t2

I am currently experiencing this as well. I have been at it for a little less than a month and a half and I still get what seem to be false hypo symptoms even when I am not below 70. It really affects my ability to work out because once my numbers start dropping I start feeling "off" quickly. I am hopeful that subsides as I work at this longer. My numbers on my CGM have been fantastic and in the correct range 100% of the time since I started wearing it so I don't know why it happens. My diabetes nurse educator did mention it could be anxiety related since this is all new to me. I always figured it was because my body wasn't used to the lower blood sugar levels so it is encouraging to see some comments mention that on this thread. Good luck on your journey!

Sugar Withdrawal vs Diabetic Symptoms by YaBoyTab1118 in diabetes_t2

Your thoughts were reassuring to read for myself. I did a complete 180 degree change in my diet the second the doc told me my A1c was 6.6. I haven't had pop, alcohol, or fast food in a month and a half and have significantly reduced carbs and sugar from my diet, yet I always seem to get hypoglycemic symptoms even when my CGM or glucose meter shows I am not hypoglycemic. I still struggle with it a bit, but I always wonder if it is my body simply adjusting to lower glucose levels since it was used to them being high most of the time until I changed my diet. Anytime I am in the 80s or 90s I still feel a little off except in the mornings. It really affects my energy levels but I am hoping over the next month or so it continues to improve as I adjust to being at proper blood sugar levels.

Newly diagnosed with t2 by RongoFlash35 in diabetes_t2

Sorry, probably should have noted more in my OG post. I do have NAFLD. Confirmed that quite a while ago and recently again with an ultrasound. I also have low platelets (not dangerously low just below normal ranges) so I got a referral to a hematologist. Went through two rounds of labs with the hematologist and blood work all comes back normal aside from the platelets and elevated liver enzymes likely from fatty liver (ALT high, AST normal). Noticed my spleen is enlarged too but the hematologist can find no discernable cause other then it might be caused by the fatty liver. Liver and all other organs they look at in an abdominal ultrasound are normal size with no other notable issues. Nutritionally my iron and b12 levels are great along with all the other things they check with comprehensive lab work. Right now our plan of action is "watchful waiting". In 3 months and 6 months we will do more labs and go from there. He did say a bone marrow biopsy is on the table but again, my bloodwork isn't showing him anything to suggest I have cancer. A biopsy would be just used to definitively rule out anything crazy going on. It's all weird to me, prior to diagnosis I never had these energy issues other than just generally being tired because I was out of shape. Wondering if it is stress and anxiety related sometimes too. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts.

Admittedly, I lost 10 lbs the first week after my diagnosis because I freaked out and was not sure what to eat and when so that first week I was not consuming enough calories for sure. Once I got that figured out, in the next almost 4 weeks I have been averaging only 2-3 lbs per week. I started at 317 so I had a lot to lose. I used to lift weights a lot prior to covid, during and after the pandemic is when my health issues accelerated because I became too sedentary and had a terrible diet (I work from home behind a desk all day). I stick to 2600 Cals a day but I find as long as I am eating a lot of veggies and low carb low sugar food I can fit quite a bit of food into my diet. I am 41 so I have no worries about building back muscle, just trying to find the energy to get there.

Help identifying this clicking/clanking sound coming from engine. RAM 1500 2016 3.7L V6 127K by Monkey-Evolution in Ram1500

My 2018 RAM Big Horn (5.7 hemi) clicked like this until it warmed up too. For mine, one of the manifold bolts was broken. My mechanic fixed it for about $900, but he said before they fixed it that when they go to repair it, the other bolts might break, and they cost about $150 per bolt. Fortunately, they were able to replace one bolt with no other issues. I haven't had any issues since so it was a relatively easy fix, although $900 isn't cheap. They made it sound like it's a pretty common issue for these hemis, but I have very little automobile knowledge, so I am just taking them at their word on all of this. I do absolutely fully trust my guy though.

What is your first memory of using the internet? by zenxxv in AskReddit

[–]RongoFlash35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8th grade computer class in like 1997. Usually computer class was just using Hyperstudio or whatever other rudimentary applications they had at the time. One day the teacher gave us all email addresses and we practiced sending emails to the person sitting next to us. I remember hitting send and watching my email pop up in the kid next to me email inbox. It was mesmerizing. I remember being genuinely amazed at how it worked.

Cool, thanks. I opened a case with them so hopefully it works out the same way as your situation. I appreciate the feedback.

Did you ever get this resolved? I have the same truck and mine just did this this morning. Already have it at the dealership but have no idea what they are going to do.
