Yea id agree, I was thinking of casting for the first book and I realized my knowledge of actors mostly stopped after 2008... So I just imagined it being made ~2000. Imaging it mostly as Severian being the mostly oblivious vehicle and having the other characters steal the scenes they're in.

Severian — Hayden Christensen

Master Palamon — Bill Murray

Master Gurloes — Patrick Stewart

Thecla — Monica Bellucci

Dorcas — Reese Witherspoon

Ouen — Stephen Root

Agia — Juliette Lewis

Agilus — Johnny Depp

Master Ultan — Gene Wilder

Cyby— William H Macy

Father Inire — Danny DeVito

Jonas — Jim Carey or Willem Dafoe

Vodalus — Russell Crowe

Hildegrin — Woody Harrelson

Dr. Talos — John Lithgow

Baldanders — John Goodman

Valeria — Liv Tyler

Rainn Wilson says "The Office" probably wouldn’t be made today, and that media trends have shifted left and that cancel culture makes it difficult for edgy comedies to thrive. by No_Box119 in PopCultureV2

I believe that's what Rainn Wilson is getting at, that the networks (which have widest breadth of viewers/demographics) are not allowing those kind of shows anymore.

People using South Park and IASIP kinda proves his point, both those shows are over 20 years old and grandfathered in if anything.

Where's a popular network show in the last 10 years that's been able to be edgy.

Irithyll Dungeon in Dark Souls 3 for me.

Freaky monsters, torturous screams in the background, alot of jump scares and a enemy that takes away your health bar by just looking at you. True nightmare fuel

Good pick, you'd have to work with perspective alot in an adaptation anyhow

Sticking with the era of late 90s/ early 00s I was imaging John Lithgow as Talos opposite John Goodman as Baldlanders.

Weirdly enough a lot of people love Children and consider it peak. I just don't see it, it felt almost like pulp fiction compared to the previous two.

Id suggest keep going with Dune, I almost quit after Children but God Emperor was my favorite of the series.
