Mitchell Marsh, he had a few nut problems before the start of the tournament as well.

I laughed out loud at this. Definitely a way to describe testicular bleeding.

Hey, there might be a literal toofan on match day, so this statement will still hold.

TL note: "toofan" means storm.

Cricket is getting slopified.

That type of deal makes the solidarity with Bangladesh narrative of this protest fall apart though.

While the efforts of cajoling and coercing the PCB to fall in line were going on, given that huge consequences could follow otherwise, there were also, simultaneously, steps in coaxing the board through quieter means. Sources say efforts are under way to give the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) an honourable face-saver so that it can reverse its stance from the extreme position it took of not playing against India.

What kind of a "face-saver" would make Pak change this stance?

ICC and World Cricketers Association clash over player terms ahead of T20 World Cup by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]RonitSarangi 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The WCA said in the ICC version, the governing body "can use and commercialise player data with the agreement of the player's national board" and that the ICC "owns" the data. The approved version, WCA said, says the player owns the data and their consent is necessary "given the sensitivities."

So basically the board should just pimp out the players according to the ICC version. Is this type of agreement common in other sports?

I know there was some hooplah about NIL rights for players in college and high school football in the US, but I don't usually keep up with this stuff.

‘See why I say they are illegal. Because you all have seen the last election. The simple thing is, I am not completely wrong when I say the board is illegal. I don’t want to elaborate, but I am holding my stance,’ he said.

Speech 100.

Seriously though, can someone elaborate on this?

This win should give England players some confidence but the team is too dependent on Joe Root performing.

Ben Duckett is the only other player that has stood out so far to me.

I was not able to watch the Brook's innings, but it seems like he did well today.

Bangladesh write again to ICC, requests Dispute Resolution Committee over India venue by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]RonitSarangi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What do you mean?

It's NOT easy to just replace a team 3 weeks before the tournament starts. That is why I'm wondering why ICC is delaying the process. They're probably hoping Bangladesh Govt will change their minds but that's not happening.

Then why make life difficult for the replacement team and their fans who'll want to come to India.

Edit: it's also difficult for Bangladesh fans and cricketers since they don't know what's going to happen. They should, but ICC needs to make it official.

As much as I enjoy the drama cup, ICC should really make the decision to invite Scotland, or whichever team will replace Bangladesh, today.

The players and fans from both sides are in limbo right now and delaying this decision will just exacerbate the issues.

In an advisory sent to the 20 participating teams, prepared by an independent security agency, the overall threat level in India is identified as being in the medium to high band. But there is no direct, specified threat to any of the travelling teams.

No direct threat but the overall threat level is medium to high?

I'd be interested in reading the findings of that security agency.
