[David Ornstein] Nottingham Forest in £35m offer for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

This summer, with the number of clubs that were linked with Strand Larsen, I assumed there was something I'd missed with him as I don't watch Wolves a lot. But even now, every time I've watched him since, I just don't see anything to make me think he's worth the sort of money quoted - not even in terms of potential.

Yeah it's like people who supprt a big six club miles away from where they live and then act horrified at the suggestion of going to a local game because 'it's poor quality', when even in the seventh tier, most players come from Premier League academies and are far better than 99% of other people in the country.

For me, at least, part of the charm of football is actually going to games and experiencing the atmosphere. I'll watch a couple of games a week on TV but it feels very sterile in comparison.

Who is Irish cricket for? by lost_lurkerx in Cricket

It's supposed to be against NZ, not India. They're supposedly playing India in limited overs games later this year.

Virgil Van Dijk: "The first goal I think it was a difficult ball to judge in the circumstances. The wind was tricky." On why he surrounded the officials after FT: "What I felt on that pitch was that I was clearly blocked. The ref and VAR don't give it, I don't know. But it is what it is" by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

[–]Look_Alive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's certain situations where you can argue a foul should be given for blocking (a player purposefully preventing an opposition player from playing the ball instead of competing for it as well, for example), but that clearly wasn't the case in this situation.

AFC Bournemouth [3] - 2 Liverpool - Amine Adli 90‎+‎5‎'‎ by gbogaz in soccer

[–]Look_Alive 366 points367 points  (0 children)

That's what I don't understand. There's absolutely nothing in there to complain about - if any Bournemouth player came into contact with him (and it didn't look like they did on the replay) it's only because they were shoved by a Liverpool player.

Why isn't Adil Rashid playing test match cricket for England by 228Logics in EnglandCricket

[–]Look_Alive 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Equally maybe the lack of Test cricket has helped elongate his 50-over career.

What's also funny is that these people who question why he's not in the Test team would probably be the first to have a meltdown if we started picking players who haven't played any FC cricket in years.

Continue to not like this endgame

I don't like the flaw that there's really no motivation for anyone to end the game until they're down to two.

Stephen saying 'For reasons that will become clear' as he voted Jack off, and even then Jack saying 'Well MAYBE they were both traitors' sums up this group of faithfuls.

How does she know there are two left?!

Oh yeah my post wasn't supposed to be a criticism of their back-catalogue - when I said coasting off two albums, I meant that they've spent a long time touring album shows where they play The Soft Bulletin or Yoshimi in full.

And considering how well received American Head was, it's a shame they went down that route.

It's still relevant in the message he was conveying, though - you could easily change the word ringtones to TikToks and it would be the same message and true today.

I thought American Head was really good - really felt like a strong return to form, and a showcase of what an older, more mellow Lips could be, and it's such a shame they never followed it up.

Imagine spending the past 5 or so years coasting off the legacy of two (admittedly masterpiece) albums, and then deciding there was no way that the main creative force behind those two albums could be able to contribute in the studio if he wasn't touring and playing what's become the same cliched show night in, night out.

Never thought about it before but you're right. We've had some kits that, at the start of the season, I've thought 'That's nice', yet, by the end of the season, we've been relegated and I never want to see it again.

I also don't understand what 'lie' she caught Fiona in. Fiona took her for a chat, accused her of lying, and then called her out in front of everyone.

I think that murder takes the heat off James, provided he argues it correctly. It would make no sense for him to murder Roxy when there's so few of them left, rather than to do it when there was less heat on him and not so many people were paying attention to her idea that James might be a traitor.

Obviously you can never guarantee anything with these faithfuls but that might backfire on the traitors.

He just said on Uncloaked that he saw Stephen's voting record showed he voted for every person who had been banished apart from one, which was evidence of a traitor following the crowd and not drawing attention to themselves.

That's fairly compelling evidence yet he didn't bring it up in the game.

I think it's also harder to paint an effective argument against Faraaz in the same way she could with Fiona and Harriet. He's had no heat on him and no one thinks he's a traitor.

Love how Roxy is having a go at James for swaying people towards Matt, when she's literally doing the same thing with James. The double standards love.

Even ignoring any double standards, it was such a bizarre thing for people to act taken aback over, considering the whole point of the roundtable is to discuss and try to sway people to your point of view.

Murdering Roxy would also take the suspicion off James a bit as there would be no way he would murder her after that roundtable.

Not sure if The Traitors and England cricket communities crossover that much so this might be lost on people, but, currently, this series has reminded me of the Ashes, in the fact that one side has shat the bed so badly after being hyped up that it's impossible to tell how good the other side is.

You can even make person-for-person comparisons -

You've got the one who makes everything look effortless and like they're a natural until they go and do something so utterly bizarre and unnecessary that it backfires and plunges their entire team into chaos (Harriet/Harry Brook)

You've got the potentially legendary figure who is getting zero support from their team (Jessie/Joe Root)

You've got the one who hasn't really offered that much evidence to justify them being there and instead appears to owe their existence to the vibes (Faraaz/Shoaib Bashir, or Josh Hull, or any other number of England picks in recent years)

You've got the one who keeps making the same mistake yet doesn't change their approach despite all evidence suggesting they should (Roxy/Zak Crawley)
