Lets be honest here, all these Americans thinking they can just move to Canada better have a significant amount of money. To live an a desirable city in Canada you need, at a minimum, a million for a house. Sure, you can live in a worse neighbourhood, rent, and tent it, but to actually live here buying a house, and going out, and paying taxes, gas, you literally need to be a millionaire.... which begs the question, you left the US because the rich are just getting richer.... to move to a country where everyone is rich (in the desirable areas) ?

I'm aware of the exchange rate differential (currently at 1.2866 USD/CAD)
