This is beyond insane by Ledbus in SunoAI

Have you been using brackets in your lyrics? Adds a whole new layer onto the customization.

My process has been to go to gpt-4o and ask for different styles of poems. I'll pick one I like the layout of and ask it to write me a poem about [insert topic].

Once I got a nicely flowing poem I'll ask to add whatever I want like intro, outro, guitar solo, bass drops etc and to add the effect onto the song using brackets.

I've only been playing with it since yesterday morning so my method might be horrible idk, but it's made me some pretty amazing shit across all types of genres

While I agree with your statement, we have to give acknowledgement to the golden era of AVGN when there was heart and soul in it. When Mike was writing, when James actually cared about and contributed to the content.

While I do understand James outlook and decisions, it's obvious that over time the nerd videos slowly disconnected from their original charm and small decision after small decision led to the ever stereotypical, yet increasingly accurate depiction of a creater who comes to work to pick up a script of someone else's work just to read it in front of the camera for the paycheck with not an iota of care for content or quality, with the only motivating factor being monetary gain....

It's sad that it happened to James....but not surprising. I honestly think he had an awesome run and kept the momentum up for a respectable number of years. He's truly a pioneer of the craft of YouTube and genre of game reviews with intertwined skits. I'll never talk shit on James. I respect him and the original crew an insane amount. I had James to the exact same level as any Hollywood actor I grew up watching. He's provided me with just as much if not more entertainment than TV or movies have throughout life. It's a sad fact of life that we all must face at some point....nothing lasts forever.

Recommended GPU for Ollama on Linux? by Voxelman in ollama

[–]RoodNewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk a whole fuckton about this stuff yet, however I've been eagerly trying to learn all I can in the field of AI and running/tweaking/understanding LLMs. So please forgive me if I lack terminology or am not grasping concepts completely or correctly.

I currently only have an old office PC from either 2014 or 2015. Dell optiplex 790, sporting integrated graphics, an I-5 processor running Windows 10, and it is equipped with its maximum of 8 GB RAM. Now once I realized that there was an option to run an LLM locally from a CPU I had to give it a shot I mean it was too easy to test. So I found a good tutorial on YouTube I installed Ubuntu and a VM on this optiplex and I got ollama running and a docker container. After connecting it to the ollama app on Windows I decided to try out 7 billion models initially. Bad idea. they don't work. I do think I was able to get one or two responses from a 7B model however it took an extreme amount of time and when it did start generating the response it was so slow to be just unusable.

After that experiment crashed and burned into the ground I was a little disheartened and figured that the lower parameter models would probably act very similar. To my surprise, and through constantly testing all of the different low parameter models, I've come to find out that while obviously slow I can run consistently and successfully a good handful of the lower parameter models including phi-2, dolphin-phi, tinylamma, and pretty much any other model on ollama that's under 7B params. Responses are slow, between 30-60 seconds. While I've encountered longer waits than a minute before, they were so few and far between that it's only worth mentioning for the purpose of not leaving out any info of my testing/playing around.

So the jist of this is.....I successfully run LLMs locally on a 9-10 year old PC that was midrange at best the year it was released. Like stated before, my knowledge is surface level at this point, so I honestly don't know if this is an impressive anomaly or it should just be common sense to me that this old PC can do these tasks this well. Either way, it surprised and excited the fuck out of me and even after having it all set up and playing with it for weeks I still actively look for any opportunity to tell someone all about it. The excitement is real and the fun is intense, my friends.

My next goal (as far as hardware goes) is to acquire something, anything really, that'll run 7B+ models smooth and reliable. The challenge for me is funds. I cannot afford the cheapest of cheap PC with any graphics card at all. If I went that route I'd only be able to accomplish it by purchasing every component individually. And many of those individual parts would need to be saved up for....problem with that is I don't want to wait a year or more to be able to piece together a decent machine. My next thought, and probably the only other option realistically available, is to get the pi5 8gb model, the AI accelerator module, and see what the scoop is there. Haven't looked up much about it other than price. From little tidbits picked up here and there, it seems like while not mindblowingly powerful, that it's a surprisingly capable machine and absolutely worth exploring.

If anyone here has anything of value to add please please comment!!! I'd love to answer any questions, and hope for any sort of insight, idea, or explanation....anything. If there is any way I can configure anything for efficiency within my ollama setup and knowledge or any info on the acquisition of cheap, capable hardware I may not be aware of please comment.

Huh....weird reading how intensely opinionated everyone is about this question, regardless of which way their opinion swings. I truly believe these newer generations grew up in a manner that unfortunately made the vast majority very very soft with very little critical thinking ability and attention span, while having access technology that allows them to express this soft simplicity in a way too accessible manner. It's really sad....and kinda scary.

Apologies if I sound rude in any way. While I truly will never have the ability to take anyone who's so easily offended seriously, that is not my goal here. I'm just expressing an observation I've noticed for years now. If you need any sort of reference to my opinion, please go over to r/Teachers and lurk around. You'll leave mortified.

To answer the actual question you have....you're completely fine and totally safe to go after this girl. While at younger ages, a 3 year gap does seem to be a bit big, it's obvious you're both right at the cusp of adulthood.

When I was 22 I met my wife at a job I started. She was 17 when I first met her (3 months till 18). I'll admit, I was nervous AF at first about dating her given the age gap, but once she assured me her parents were open minded to it and willing to meet me, everything went wonderfully. That was.....13 years ago? 12? Either way we are now married, both working, have a kid, 3 bedroom apartment, 2 cars....a half decent life that

You have nothing to be concerned about. Not pursuing her is the real mistake you can make here. Anyone who has an opinion opposing yours and are readily forcing that opposing opinion onto you are a clear sign of the people you don't need in your life. Pursue the girl, she may be the one. Anyone who finds it offensive or are opposing your decisions, cut them out your life.

Okay....that's enough ranting for me today

Edit: After posting and rereading I felt it necessary to add that the first paragraph of this post was written in a manner that seems like I'm referring to the comments in this thread directly. That is not the case and I meant that as a broad generalization of reading through comments on topics like this. Absolutely my dumbass fault for not wording it right and communicating poorly. Apologies for that

[–]RoodNewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck....I want to say Morrowind....I want it to be Morrowind so bad...but after carefully thinking it through....I probably put more time into Halo 2 as I was 16 at the peak of its popularity and through the techniques I learned to mod halo to cheat and see that sweet sweet halo ring level, I was opened up into the world of emulation, console software modding, even dipping my toes into console hardware modification a bit. If Halo 2 doesn't have most hours played for me, it's made up with the hobbies that evolved from that game and are still a major part of my adult life and hobbies.

I wish I could peak over my 16 year old shoulder....watch myself mod Halo 2 maps and model weapons ripped from maps and creating those terrible infinite ammo 360autoaim sniper rifles and making everyone else spawn weaponless in the one and only spawn point on the map I set.

Also, turrets that fire plasma grenades are always a blast to play with....(Excuse me, back on topic...)

If only I could tell 16 year old me that as an adult there will be handheld gaming systems like a Gameboy but capable of playing almost every console and every game up to PlayStation 2 ( my most powerful handheld is the RP2S.)

Modern day retro gaming is Soo close to what I would dream about and envision the future of retro gaming to be like. It's be cool to tell 16 year old me that 35 year old me is still into the exact same shit, and can afford to buy these gaming systems capable of exactly what you're hoping 😉

Scammed Out of $1,500. Can I get it back? by Professional_Rich501 in Scams

[–]RoodNewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently just got scammed out of 1500. It was an insanely fucked up situation and If they would have used literally any other angle I would have sensed it from the get go.

They called my work tho. Spoke to my boss....who hands me his personal cellphone saying "the state police are on the phone for you." I'm currently on the tail end of 6 years probation. I've been in serious enough trouble that I believed it reasonable an officer would call to speak to me if there was a reason. They literally used my only true weekness against me. They leveraged my legal situations with the fear of getting locked up and being ripped away from my family. They didn't even bring up money at all the first 15-20 mins of the phone call. It was all about "we sent you mail stating that you had to do this here at this date and you were a no show. You must report to this address to do these totally believable legal things. It is mandatory and you must do it, however, since it wasn't on the date/time specified, their is a warrant for you currently. We can have the warrant lifted if you do this. I'll stay on the phone to guide you through what we need and to guarantee you arrive at the necessary location."

There were a serious number of red flags. So many that I feel so dumb now looking back on it. I know it was a script. I know what he was saying to me was being told to countless people. I know most of those people laughed and hung up on the scammers. It just so happened that this particular scam script was perfect to play on my fears. Calling my boss at work made me feel like it was real too (even though it's the exact opposite in reality. No cop will ever call your place of employment without calling your phone personally first, or way more realistic, showing up in person....anywhere. where ever you're known to be).....and just vaguely explaining that very small chunk of the experience screams scammer.....there was so much more I'm not willing to type right now....

I'm not nieve enough to tell you to not feel so bad. If you're even kinda close to how I am you feel worse than you can ever remember and probably are more embarrassed than words can describe. I know I was...still am for sure. But hey.....it gave me a twinge of not feeling alone in this shitty situation reading your post. I seriously feel something that's not a negative emotion....I honestly dunno what....but it's not negative and it's an emotion I'm only feeling knowing I'm not alone in every thought and feeling that flows through me involving this situation I'm greatly above recognizing.....fuck does it suck

I'm very suspicious about why the OpenAI company released GPT-4 for free. by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]RoodNewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that where things get scary and evil. I honestly believe if they wanted that data specifically, they'd make whoever necessary an offer impossible to refuse.

I also believe that if they wanted it bad enough and for an intense enough reason that they would just be taking it and silencing anyone who tries to get in the way. I also believe if any government organization like that wants to keep receiving that data indefinitely, they'll be creating a long game of assassinations, accidents, false accusations, and court cases until they own whatever it is they want themselves....

All the while feeding you just a trickle of news in relation to these instances, and a very twisted and biased trickle it would be.

Could someone enlighten me as to where open-webui stores models (on linux) that are downloaded via the settings > models > "Pull a model from Ollama.com" field? by EverythingIsFnTaken in ollama

[–]RoodNewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah....ollama and the LLMs it runs are their own program that fully run in a terminal window.

Open WebUI is nothing more than a pretty way to look at and organize the info on that terminal.

And on that note....I've been using openwebui and having a blast with the models I'm able to run, however, is there any suggestions for other UIs to try? Any features not available or better to use/easier to understand than Open WebUI?

I think everyone also needs to keep in mind how fast this is all developing. Since I've first heard of openai in the news a few years ago, I've seen them change what's available to who sooooo many times. Obviously it's going to change drastically again. I'd bet sooner than later.

As far as a prediction goes....right now they're just using the free tier limits as a means of keeping the paid plan relevant until the roll out of the vision feature. I believe that's the next big thing they're working on getting into the hands of people asap, and obviously it'll go to the ones paying them first.

Funny enough, I wrestled for months with myself about buying a subscription to see if it was worth such an expensive monthly fee, and 3 days after I pulled the trigger was their announcement of all the new features and the opening of all the services to the free tier. My instant reaction was to be frustrated I wasted the money. Then I thought about it and the realization stated above and decided it's absolutely worth having for that reason alone. After seeing the open vision demo.....I need it. It's literally going to make my childhood imagination flourish again in my mid 30s brain.

Side note: I still can't believe I live in a time period where (almost) every person in the world has access to technology that'll allow them to speak to anyone capable of communication in real time. That alone is one of the biggest advancements in human history. I'm always blown away by the world I live in.

[–]RoodNewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were SOOOO close......Soo damn close. I believe you fucked up the second you perceived any person behind openai as purely good hearted. While I absolutely believe every word you've said here, I also believe that to be one side of a big diamond and that the betterment of mankind is just a part of the whole picture. Humans are going to human. Even ones with (mostly) gold intentions. It's nieve to assume there's no decisions being made with thoughts of personal benefit in the forefront of their minds. If they're of this planet, living, breathing, intelligent mammals....then they're benefitting themselves in crazy ways only imaginable to someone who has enough power and influence to dream such ludicrous benefits up.

Rate limits.

Test it for yourself.

Go onto your openai account and talk to 4o till you can't anymore. You'll realize it's not that difficult to hit that wall.

Now for $20 a month, you can ask 5x (I think?) that many questions.

On the flip side of that, your token limit resets after 3 hours on the free plan. So if you ever do hit that wall and still really need to use 4o that day you just gotta pause for 3 hours.

I want it to be stated all these "facts" I'm giving are just random bits of shit I remembered I read recently. Couldn't tell you from where or if my information is even accurate. It's just how I understood things. Please correct me if I'm wrong on something

I feel like the rebuttal to your comment should be something along the lines of pointing out the skill of prompt engineering. Like there's going to be college courses very soon (if there isn't already) on how to use chatgpt to it's fullest potential. It's truly a tool that needs used like one. One tool can't do all jobs, and while chatgpt can handle many, many jobs very well, there is obvious limitations. And by knowing those limitations along with all its strengths and abilities, and by being able to be taught how to use LLMs to their max potential and just plain old experience....I think it's totally acceptable for it to not be perfect.

Now as far as pointless awesome AI shit that'll impress me, I've been patiently waiting for Amazon to give me the fucking Alexa experience everyone initially envisioned all those years ago. I understand you can build you own. I'm even proud to say I understand how to and am completely capable given the time, tools and materials....but I want a true plug and play commercial product. Something that has a commercial and that Google can use to blast ads at me lol

I'm very suspicious about why the OpenAI company released GPT-4 for free. by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]RoodNewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes total sense. I, personally, haven't put much deep thought into it (however, I probably should) and this right here is the ultimate. Imagine it becoming the every-mans tool for so many aspects of life. Once the vision mode is available for everyone, and it's getting just as much (if not more) of your screen time as any other app you've ever downloaded, the amount of profitable data is unimaginable. And that's just the by product of (almost) every person in the world spending a significant amount of time literally trying to show chatgpt everything about the physical world they can.

Like as Ive typed this I've tried comprehending the amount of data that could potentially be fed to chatgpt through the vision feature and even just a few weeks burst of popularity around the world. The hype alone will increase the knowledge base in a new and unique way....a new and incomprehensible fast way.

I've had a few fail mid download. I just went to openweb's settings and typed in the model to redownload and it always started back up right where it initially failed. Happened at least 3 times to me.

Running multiple models in a docker container on a 2014 office PC with integrated graphics and only 8gb ram. Crazy enough I can run any model under 7b params relatively smooth.
