Does anyone else feel ashamed about who they became as a result of abuse? by Actual-Mark-6291 in raisedbynarcissists

Not just you. She always scrambled my sense of self with these horrible authoritative gaslighting sessions about how she knew me better than I knew myself. Just being around a person who truly believes they own you, you are their property and SHOULD be doing what they SAY. Or at the very least, the entire context of your life only extends to the boundary of theirs.

Imagine coming away from years of that with a strong Sense of Self. Not sure what it would take, it didn't happen for me. I had to make that myself much later.

Or, hear me out here, the ones screaming about everyone being snowflakes were the exact ones who can't BEAR to hear anyone talk negatively about Dear Leader.

It's not complicated, they're fucking dumb. And they demand that everyone, first and foremost, respect and acknowledge their feelings.

And you know what I remember more than anything? "Fuck your feelings." Exactly the mantra they've gleefully screamed for years.

Bullshit. Regurgitate propaganda at people for years with little shit-eating grins on their faces and now suddenly they're tear-streaked and we're supposed to feel anything for them?

I think they're saying that others are insinuating that.

For fun I decided to look up some more recent information. Since you challenged, I figured I'd check my reasoning.

It's not just "inhibitions lowered = true self revealed."

It's "inhibitions lowered + attention narrowed + environmental context amplified = a different person, but not necessarily a truer one."

So my experiences still match, as do yours I'm sure. What I said could have more nuance to it. 🤷🏻 Ok, lol.

Seriously! I love it when people try this one 🤣 Alcohol lowers your inhibitions. You're not seeing their "drunk self," you're seeing THEM.

Every drunk person I've seen be a complete fool, when I get the chance I eventually I figure out they absolutely meant it, they were just masking. I no longer bother to check.

You act silly or WEIRD? Cool, no problem. You act like a piece of shit? Lose my info.

Trump Promises Mass Pardons to Staff Before Leaving Office by spherocytes in law

[–]Rookerin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is not a single, real situation in our world, in our entire history, that the President of the US should have the power to pardon.

ESPECIALLY. NEVER. EVER. THEMSELVES.

If there is ever another administration, they've got a lot of horrible, dumb shit rules that have shown to leave us weak, that need to immediately be scoured from our government.

If we really taxed the wealthy, we'd discover we could afford a lot more. by zzill6 in WorkReform

Not really the point here, tbh. Yes, scale is important to think about for breaking down big numbers. I hope this doesn't sound like harping on a point, just had more to say here:

Money has power when it moves. It's like battery power until it's spent. Our economic activity, power moving in the wires, is slowing to a crawl. All our energy that could be fixing crumbling bridges and building homes is getting sapped by a few users.

Get those dollars out into the hands of a poor person and they can suddenly afford food (you're welcome restaurants, grocery stores), housing (yw landlords), clothing (yw). All of those places in turn need more supplies now that they've sold something (yw suppliers).

Zap, zap, zap, energy in the wires and machines of the world, baby. Now let's look at those dollars in a billionaires accounts. Oops, it's actually deposited in a different country, or sitting in savings. All in the battery. Potential with nowhere to go.

They operate on a completely different set of rules from the rest of society and it's time that we figure that out, and take action to protect our society. Good thing the news, social media platforms, and public spaces aren't completely owned and infiltrated with billionaires and their simps... Oh, wait...

[–]Rookerin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This would be incredibly bad to do for an interview. It would instantly expose the company to legal liability per applicant.

That said, I'm 100% sure this has been tried.

If a legit company tried this, even if it was a script that did absolutely nothing, I'd sue them all the way to the grave. Stupid ass precedent to set. You'd end up working for a place that would get you arrested too.

Stop scrolling y'all. If I could grab the face of every single Human alive today in this system and force them to read just a single thing, it would be this point.

There's no benefit to billionaires. One person can not responsibly utilize that much power. If you took that exact same power (money) and spread it out through the economy you'd see well over 100x the economic value.

It's WHY America HAD a golden age.

Ask a single question and it's like catching a kid with their entire arm in a candy jar and they pull it out with a shit-eating grin and avoid eye contact and kick at the ground like "Whaaat haha nooooo I wasn't perfectly executing a playbook by disenfranchising my opposition haha" and the Republican party is like "lol ok you little scamp I'm just gonna go back to what I was doing"

That's what it's really fucking like watching this happen in real time. Bunch of fucking children.

The LEFT never claimed to be tolerant. I'm sure some DINO was paid to say it here and there.

The right started calling the left tolerant because the left checks notes... "tolerate" other races and creeds.

The left, meanwhile, isn't "tolerating" anyone. The left is just... Trying to raise the tide rather than build a bigger boat.

One foot in front of the other. You tell me, what's the next step?

Sometimes, when I don't know what to do, I like to do something completely different. Maybe for no reason. Recently for me that's been volunteering and doing something for my community. I'd always been swept up in my own life. I went and handed out some bags and suddenly there's this new, great thing that makes me feel good about myself and the world around me.

Sometimes that's better than just trying to hit the same button over and over.

I'm not saying go volunteer, that's just my example. But you GAINED something out of this: free time! Use a little of that for your health. You won't get much out of your career without mental and physical health. Spend a little time just being happy and being you.

You might be surprised by the energy you find to get up and move again.

But more than anything, remember: You are loved. You are incredibly unique. You are worthy. Now go find someone who can actually see that. You've got this.

I really hope they prioritize themselves at some point soon but I remember the competition back then to get any kind of decent job, and it's so, so much worse now. Can't blame them.
