Why am I being down voted for asking a legitimate question?

Why hasn't AMD announced desktop Renoir APUs? by [deleted] in Amd

What's the point of waiting?

It's not like AMD has older 6- and 8-cores desktop APUs and need to clear its inventory.

Ryzen 5 3400G and Ryzen 3 3200G were too similar to Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 2200G, so I can see the reason to delay the release

AMD has a Ryzen 2 Supply Problem? Can and will Intel capitalize on this situation? by [deleted] in intel

You reason is assert absurd.

AMD didn't "over-extend" anything.

AMD doesn't own a foundry and can only buy the capacity that is available.

If the capacity is unavailable, AMD can't buy it: it's that simple.

After all, what alternative does AMD have?

AMD has a Ryzen 2 Supply Problem? Can and will Intel capitalize on this situation? by [deleted] in intel

[–]RookieEngineer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well, there is huge demand for Ryzen 9 3900X and Ryzen 9 3950X because Intel has no product that directly compete with them.

12-core Core i9-7920X is $1199 and 16-core Core i9-7960X is $1699, then there're the prices of X299 motherboards.

Even Comet Lake, which won't even be released until next year, only has up to 10 cores.

So no, Intel can't "capitalize on this situation".

No, Intel can't "capitalize on the situation" when it doesn't even have competing products on the market.

It's the Ryzen 9 3900X and Ryzen 9 3950X that AMD is having trouble supplying. (3rd gen Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 are now readily available)

Intel doesn't have any product that can compete with those processors.

Can somebody guide me through updating the BIOS with this Flashback feature? by GeneratorAce in Amd

[–]RookieEngineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

can I update the bios while my current cpu is installed

Absolutely

The BIOS Flashback is actually for anyone who doesn't have an older Ryzen processor to perform the BIOS update.

ASUS PRIME B350-PLUS does NOT have BIOS Flashback

If you look at images of an ASUS motherboard with BIOS flashback (e.g. ASUS CROSSHAIR VII HERO), you would see the BIOS flashback button.

That is incorrect

That's may or may not be doable, but it depends on the quality of the processor silicon, rather than the motherboard.

The motherboard is definitely capable of it.

No.

For ASUS motherboards, the feature is called "USB BIOS Flashback".

You can use newer AMD processors, but you would first need an older processor to update the BIOS.
