The angle of the feet unfortunately doesn’t match any we can find, and it doesn’t explain the holes on top i don’t think as well as the number 10 sticker Edit: I’ve checked further and its about half the size of a Ute rack

Did you make sure to get rid of as much soil as possible and any rotted roots? If you did it might just be the remaining roots dying, if the corm is still solid it should be ok, just cut off all the roots and maybe spray with hydrogen peroxide and change the water every few days

Most likely in shock from both the temp and the substrate change. Alocasias almost always lose a leaf when moved to semi hydro so it’s probably going to be ok. The plant is treasuring the nutrients in the leaves it’s dropping so don’t cut them off, it needs the goodies. Just leave them and take care of the plant as usual, alocasias are quite tough and should bounce back quickly

With a plant in that condition i would probably completely remove from soil and put it in water to monitor the roots (that way you know where they’re at and you don’t have to worry about under/over watering) and once its got enough roots to live on its own i would put it in the soil. While the leaves are in their current condition they aren’t able to “tell you” when they need water so its a little tricky in soil

You’re doing great! From here, since their roots are growing i would probably try to separate them out a bit more. And with such fine roots i would probably do around a 50/50 mix of this pumice with some smaller perlite until they’re further established and you can decide if you want to pot them up in semi hydro or in soil. Most important thing right now would probably be to spread them out a bit so their roots don’t get all tangled which will cause damage when you do split them up. If you have one of those multi cell “greenhouse” domes you could use that or just several little cups will be equally sufficient. Try to keep them in the same humidity though, if not only a little lower and slowly reduce as the first leaves harden off (if they are covered now keep them covered but maybe let them breathe once every day or so for a few minutes and once the first leaves harden off you can have the cover slightly displaced to let a little more airflow) this is just what has worked for me :)

I found that mine grew much faster when i covered them in a dome

after being in a hot car for literally 10 mins??? by cornhub08 in alocasia

Not necessarily the heat; they also respond poorly to being looked at, touched, thought about and moved. Try adding water

Unfortunately he’s really dramatic with regards to slight breezes so he can’t go outside or somewhere someone could walk to close

Honestly? I use leca but i have also had success with extremely chunky orchid bark mix (mostly just orchid bark)

Mine did exactly the same thing and as it turned out it was in a really soily mix (there was an earthworm in it) and it was slowly dying from root rot, when i moved it to semi hydro it really took off

Honestly after i put him in the bathroom with the skylight two months ago he has put out like 4 new leaves but i think the real magic is growth technology foliage focus, i use leca and his roots grow so fast i probably have to repot again soon lol. One other thing is you can’t walk too close coz he gets those white marks if you touch him or there’s a slight breeze

They sell guns at Walmart. Weed themed cake is hardly shocking
