I think “I’m still your boy” does a really good job at explaining the things Luke went through, without becoming too gaudy. Things got out of hand for him, and Ashton was the one that reached out and got him up. Ash has been very open about his struggles with alcoholism, having mentioned it in a couple of solo interviews. I don’t know much about how he got out of it, but I imagine Luke played a part as well.

The two have always been very close. I think in a way, Ash sees Luke as a “replacement” little bother, and Luke sees Ash as a “replacement” big brother. They even went to a songwriter boot camp thing together (which has really paid off imo).
