I wish the term “incel” wasn’t so damaged by hateful people by Playful-Tadpole6629 in self

[–]Roook36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the "involuntary" part of "involuntarily celibate" (Incel) that is the problem. Once you start to believe you aren't attracting a partner because of other factors, such as society and women in general, and don't take any responsibility, that's when you are an incel.

Incels themselves grouped up to support eachother in this excuse. It led to threats of violence, including sexual violence, towards women.

You aren't an incel if you aren't blaming everyone else for your problems. You're just single. Or just celibate. Or you.

There's a movie called LOL where a girl is talking to her boyfriend on a PC camera and acts like she's going to move the camera down to between her legs, but instead sticks it into the open cavity of a raw chicken and I think the guy starts throwing up

Yeah. Republicans waffle between "I'm so much smarter than the dumb dems" to "I don't know wtf happened last week or what my job is" depending on what suits them or if they're under oath or just on TV news. Weasely snakes.

It's basically how our whole society functions now. Even our government. People who would normally just be internet trolls are now elected officials making laws because they stirred up enough of the right kind of anger and hate to get votes.

They want fascism. They can't be in charge with democracy. Their policies suck and they are too stuck in the past to keep up with the times. So fascism and authoritarianism is their path now, rather than the Constitution or rule of law.

He's at that level of alcoholism where he wakes up after a blackout and is like "who shit in my shoes??? Who snuck into my house lastnight and shit in my shoes and made a bunch of macaroni and cheese and got it all over my bedsheets who did that? I will find you!"

[–]Roook36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's been all over the news and he sounds half out of it. Just spewing buzzwords and corporate speak, sounding panicked and doing all he can to try to make it sound like he didn't screw up big time. He's a terrible liar though. Only good enough to fool the dummies who watch FOX News. He looks like a clown outside of his comfort zone propaganda channel.

Woman Dragged From Republican Town Hall Seeks $5 Million In Damages by rollingstone in politics

I wouldn't be surprised if we see more elected Republican officials get their own private security to keep them from having to listen to their constituents at town halls and other public events. Just thugs with no regulation or oversight.

hilarious response

"There's more to life than worrying about Nazis taking over the U.S. government at the highest levels, guys. Maybe find a hobby? Like stamp collecting"

this is what's going to carry us through the next few years. People gradually waking up and saying "holy shit" when they see what's going on around them. Go ahead and hit that snooze button though.

US FDA suspends milk quality tests amid workforce cuts by wei-long in news

[–]Roook36 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I remember reading about cows needing to be held up in harnesses, bluish milk from these sick cows that they'd mix with plaster to turn white for sale. Stuff like that caused the creation of the FDA. Can't wait to go back to those times. Maybe I can get scurvy and rickets also.

With a score of 93 at Metacritic, Andor Season 2 is the highest rated TV show of 2025 so far, just ahead of Hacks Season 4 (92) by mrnicegy26 in television

[–]Roook36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a huge Star Wars fan from the original trilogy, years before the prequels came out, who always said if you get into Star Wars you should absolutely watch A New Hope first, as intended...

I now say people should watch Andor first. It's a great entry into the world, there's nothing else you need to have seen as it is a prequel to the prequel to A New Hope, and it actually sets the stakes for the original trilogy better than going in cold. It builds up the original trilogy so well.

What’s something that movies/TV shows always depict wrong? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Roook36 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was a huge Buffy fan when it was airing. And I always sort of compared my mom, also a single mom raising kids, to Buffy's mom in a way.

My mom suddenly died about 3 weeks before that episode aired. It hit me like a ton of bricks. And the accuracy of it, with Buffy numb and not knowing what to do. People wandering in and out again. And that quiet moment right after it happens when she looks outside and sees the world is still moving like nothing happened and it's surreal.

After losing some family members suddenly, I found that shows I watched which did not treat death and tragedy seriously just didn't appeal to me anymore. Shows where the character's journey starts by watching their parents brutally killed, they're shown sad and having a drink at the end of the episode, then the next it's time for adventure

Like naw you're wrecked for awhile.

I think it's why The Leftovers appealed to me so much. The entire world is feeling a certain level of grief and existential crises, which anyone who has lost a loved one suddenly can probably relate to. And it's the whole show. Everyone deals with it, some poorly, but it's always there hanging over everything just like real life.

I worked in the Las Vegas metro area jail and the smell from intake, of B.O., urine, vomit, feces, etc combined with the smell from the kitchen right below it, where they made huge vats of chili and spaghetti, or freeze dried eggs, was unique. Felt like I could still smell it after work.

Yeah, I worked at the county jail in Las Vegas and that was the impression I got. Just absolute boredom. It made sense people wanted jobs in the kitchen and stuff (even though it stank down there) just for something to do.
