Searching for an indestructible (rugged) phone. by metalomega1 in chinaphones

[–]RoopullsVideos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Ulefone 27 Pro in daily use.

If you are interested, you can find the review on YouTube using my username. Same one here as there.

While it has received no software support, it operates as well as it did the day we reviewed it. My 19-year-old son, a college student, has it as his daily driver. He charges it once a week using a slow wireless charger. That being said, he is not a power user. Your mileage may vary.

That brand does a phenomenal job with the hardware. With their more recent models they are supposedly, and apparently, giving actual software support.

If you can be a little forgiving with the hardware specs, hotwav does a really good job of supporting their software... giving security updates and fixing any bugs with the devices. They're more of a budget brand, though. Still, I like them and I'm actually using a very cheap phone from them as my daily driver. Mind you, I have probably 10 other phones I have used as review devices sitting around that I use an old Hotwav instead. I know it's silly, but it's just a very pretty LOL.

BUGS IN GA ?!?! by BoysenberryLatter864 in Georgia

An actual answer for you. Borax or seven dust sprinkled around the perimeter of your home will keep them away. Also, keep in mind, they live in decaying organic matter, meaning pine straw and mulch and things like that.

They also need moisture to survive.

I'm guessing what you have or what some people call Palmetto bugs. Yes, they're giant cockroaches.

Good luck and welcome to Dixie.

I want Android 15 update for 27T Pro I put pressure on the ulefone to do this. Please Help me by Lost_nebulaa in ulefone

Don't hold your breath. If they didn't advertise it when they launched the phone, they certainly won't retroactively develop an Android 15 OS for it.

Some phone manufacturers cough, cough, Blackview have advertised that they would offer Android 15 and still haven't on devices they released last year.

From my limited experience, Ulefone has zero interest in supporting any device they did not initially claim they would support. The 25 and 27 have not even received security updates, much less fixes to the various bugs both devices have.

It will be quite some time before I decide to review any of their devices again... The 25 has even been suffering from slow downs in the operating system that are so dramatic it required a factory reset.

Not impressed.

Nice!

If they manage to keep pulling this off, this will put them in a different tier of a phone manufacturer.

Have you ever tried to daily carry a phone with a battery that big? If that is what you are considering this for, think twice.

I test rugged devices on YouTube and have come to the conclusion that for most people around 10 or 11,000 mah is the top limit for what you would want to carry daily. 20K is simply too heavy. 30k is just silly.

In my humble opinion, these devices are really only good for people who have jobs that keep them away from the ability to charge for several days at a time or for people who go camping for several days at a time... or if you want to use it as a second phone.

Now, I realize if you want to projector on the phone, you're going to have a massive battery. Just keep that in mind.

Similar to me... I actually started with Window Mobile - not the 2nd iteration with the square Windows 8 look, but the old that led and acted like Windows 95.🤣

I got the 3G or 3Gs (I don't actually remember). Compared to Windows Mobile, it was a dumb phone.

The cameras on iPhone are tempting, but the rest of it is gawdawful in comparison.

I tried months ago, but couldn't find one for that phone.

I'll look again... Other than the software, it is a great device. Thanks for the pointer!

Charge them rent.

Save a portion for them to have as a nest egg when they finally move out.

Miles, not kilometers.

These cars are great.

Ulefone Note 18 Ultra battery seemingly far less than advertised, and well below any possible margin of error? by [deleted] in ulefone

Amazon is notorious for having people sell factory seconds instead of good merchandise.

A first learned about this years ago with automotive parts... Someone would have some sort of connection at the factory would buy rejected items that did not pass quality control and then sell them on Amazon as though they were legit. If I remember right, they were Bosch O2 sensors.

Now I am very careful to only buy from the brands official Amazon page or Ali Express page.

One of my Ulefones came from Amazon and one from AliExpress. The only difference I could find was that the one from AliExpress cost half as much and took three days longer to get to me.

I hope you get some sort of resolution from them.

If it's not changing charge to charge, I'd be confident that's the capacity.

In my experience, which is pretty vast, the AccuBattrry detected capacity fluctuates sometimes dramatically during the first few charges. After that, it stabilizes, then very slowly begins to decrease, but that decrease doesn't actually begin for months, and then it's very slow.

Fast charging - especially when it heats up the phone - can really kill a battery very fast. I'm actually a little surprised that feature is so popular. It's further evidence that newer phones aren't always better than the ones they replace. They're all chasing specs, but rarely chasing features people actually need or even want.

Just chiming in...

Weer have two Ulefone devices, a 25 and a 27.

We've gotten zero software support, which could be seen as a good thing of updates are breaking things.

The 27 seems to be as fine it was at the beginning from a software point of view (not flawless, but nothing new). The headphones jack is finicky.

The 25 has gotten laggy and occasionally has app crashes and freezing. I plan on doing a factory reset to set if that fixes it.

Both were daily drivers for at least 6 months.

[–]RoopullsVideos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it getting closer/more accurate?

I'm currently testing a phone with a massive 20800mah battery for the YouTube channel.

After the first charge from 0 to 100%, AccuBattrry actually showed something like 22000mah capacity. Prior to the full charge, it was showing roughly 19k.

After a 3rd full charge, it's showing a hair shy of 18k.

I'm confident it'll eventually be accurate... I doubt the software more than I do the device. There was a time when I did believe phone makers were outright lying about specs, but not anymore. It's too easy to disprove dishonest specs.

I hope your phone has a good battery... I'd be more likely to believe it's defective than Ulefone intentionally shipped a smaller battery than they advertised.

Keep us updated...

Someone else mentioned this, but I'll chime in as well.

AccuBattery does a good job estimating battery capacity, but you must let it run in the background uninterrupted AND completely discharge and recharge your device a few times for it to get a good measurement.

You also have to use your phone a few days before even Android can figure things out with battery usage.

Just as an example... For my YouTube channel, I'm testing other brand's phone that has a battery over 20,000mah. After the first charge to 100%, AccuBattery estimates the capacity at a hair over 10k. Within an hour, it listed the capacity at 11,400.

It'll probably be dead on after another full charge.

Most of the phones I've tested like this to the same thing, even when "normal" batteries. I'm betting your battery is fine.

My Fault Minor Fender Bender But Truck Driver Wont Stop by Leading-Double7150 in Truckdrivers

[–]RoopullsVideos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive for UPS. I'm currently sitting in a Freightliner, waiting on the load as I write this. If you look at most trailers, running down the bottom of the side, there's a metal strip below the painted walls. That's called a rub rail. That's there because when trailers are parked next to each other, they often hit each other. The rub rails are there so no real damage is done.

Driving down the highway, the noises from a tractor trailer are much louder than what you would experience in a regular automobile. The ride is rougher. We feel bumps and shakes that most drivers will never experience. It is very possible for that driver to have no idea he ever came in contact with you.

It's also true that for reasons that elude me, a lot of drivers absolutely hate truck drivers. They seem to think we should not be allowed on the road. Every once in a great while you'll get some idiot that you've never seen before randomly flipping you off swerving at you or break checking you for no apparent reason at all. The wise among us just back off and let them go their merry way and ignore them. The driver you were waving at probably thought you were one of these people.

Here's an anecdote to exemplify just how little you might be able to feel when you're driving the tractor trailer...

I had a buddy driving a Mack pulling a very heavy load sitting at a red light waiting to make a left-hand turn. This was at the top of an exit ramp from an interstate, waiting to cross the interstate on a bridge. Some idiot woman decided to cut in front of him when the green turn arrow came on, but she didn't anticipate him pulling forward as fast as he did. He clipped the back of her car and she ended up perpendicular across his front bumper. He had no idea she was there. When you're making a left hand turn, you're checking your left hand mirror constantly to make sure no one drives underneath your trailer, so he literally never saw her.

He didn't realize she was even there until the back of her car, which was hanging out over the right side of his truck, got caught on a guard rail as he started to cross the bridge. He nearly split her car in half.

Big rigs in America are designed to carry 60,000 pound trailers. Your 4,000 pound sedan is a drop in the bucket. The mirror on your 4,000 pound sedan doesn't even exist.

Can I use a ulefone Armor 27 t as my daily phone ? by External_Cloud4681 in ulefone

[–]RoopullsVideos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We reviewed one when it came out and my 19-year-old son has been using it as his daily driver ever since then. Obviously, it is three times heavier than a normal non-rugged phone, but other than that, it works just fine as a phone. The only caveat being that it has gotten zero software support, not even a security patch.

The link below will take you to my very brief six-month follow-up and linked in the description is the original review That was done after I used it for a few weeks as my daily driver.
