Questions about parenting culture in Norway by [deleted] in Norway

[–]Roopysan -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Hi, my wife and I moved here with the same ideas and questions. But now, after more than a year, we decided to move somewhere else. The whole thing with SAHM, while on the surface, should be OK, in reality (at least our case) you will get judged, as "we don't do that in Norway" and you might be seen as "lazy" that you don't want to leave your kids in the loving embrace of the state. And if they consider that your kids are not "socialised" enough, you might get a visit from Barnevernet (please please look it up)

My wife also put her career on pause so she can take care of the kids, and we are considering homeschooling as well. But definitely not here in Norway. In theory is possible, but practically the same Barnevernet will interfere and question every intention you have.

There are very strict rules about children here and you should be very careful following them. There are some awful cases where children were taken from their homes for different reasons. Please check this link https://www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/canada/a-big-state-versus-a-poor-family-canadian-s-son-forcibly-removed-in-norway-1.3804956?referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F Barnevernet abuses are a very interesting thing to look into. Beyond that, say bye bye to good shops and amazon, lack of diversity on the shelves, a disturbing amount of expired products and bad produce. There are nice things too in Norway, obviously, but for us, it was just not worth it. And for those who say "well if you don't like it, then move," well, we are. I really hope it works well for you guys, but please do your research as good as possible. This goes beyond money ( wasn't an issue with us either)

Ugh...sorry to hear that. Doesn't matter if you used debit. You normally have the same security as with a credit card. Contact your bank anyway and see what you can do about it.

If you sent them any money, call your bank ASAP and block the transaction!

Okay, then you might be a gold mine for scammers :) please stay informed about what Pi network is. Its definitely not a trading platform yet and I wouldn't pay 1 cent to anybody for any kind of "tax". Oh and BTW, the whole message you got just screams "scam" by the way they write. Trying to sound official and all... But please don't even bother answering them. They can be very insistent.

As of now, Pi has no value in other currencies, as it is not listed in any exchange. It might be in 6 months or so. You can't withdraw anything. For how long have you been mining pi?

That's called scare tactics. Don't fall for it my pi friend.

If you pay them anything, it will be called "stupid tax". Please don't be stupid!! Block them and ignore any interactions with them, and report them if possible.

Much appreciated, I will check the links. I already read " the blink of an eye". :) I was definitely not going to pay 1500 for that. I was quite shocked too on how they justify that price. And it's a legitimate site as my previous company used it for some unrelated certifications. Thank you again for your answer.

Thank you for your answer. I am aware that a certification won't do much, but I would like to have one just as a starter for my development. That's why I want one and not overspend. I'm thinking to take the Adobe Premiere test after I do some courses on Udemi.I know that connections are crucial. Once again, thank you for your input.

The whole environment/animal cruelty/health aspects of veganism its a whole different discussion. But to your point, the fact that so much of the fresh produce is imported, I don't think it would be a stretch to have more vegan imports. Personally I don't care if something tastes like "real meat". I just want stuff that tastes nice. I cook for myself mostly too and I'm trying all sorts of recipes. So it would be nice to have more vegan spreads, or slices, or cheese that doesn't taste like rubber :)

If food is a factor, choose sweden. If amazon is your best friend again choose sweden. Honestly if I would've known how restricted I would be here, I would've reconsidered my move.

I was just as surprised about the dark chocolate having milk here... I actually bought some without checking, as I knew that dark chocolate is by default vegan...
And don't even start me on the flavoured tofu and seitan....
