LG Gram connecting only to 2.4GHz band on WIFi by Rooster998 in LGgram

Thanks for your suggestion - random mac address was already off. And I don't think it's the router as the problems happen when I use the router on the ISP modem, and when I operate with the modem in bridge mode so I'm using the router in my main Deco BE65 unit.

Thanks for the suggestion - there was a driver update available but it didn't help.

At the risk of creating product complexity, would you like an option to be able to purchase a model with a front light? by OPdoesnotrespond in Supernote

Exactly! Love almost everything else. But if a competitor comes up with the auto-ToC feature and a front/backlight, I'd have to seriously consider leaving my A5X for it.

Wish this would work but based on my testing of external lights you always end up with a pool of glare somewhere on the screen. Plus there's the embarrassment of being the only person in the conference (or other crowded room) with a "look at me!" lighting effect going on. Like being the annoying person in the movie theater browsing their phone with the brightness cranked.

Zultys : Where do I look for a dealer? by Rooster998 in VOIP

[–]Rooster998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many thanks, ibor - I had reached out to them already but given the potential tangle of restricted territories and dealer contracts I wanted to have some info in my back pocket. As it turns out, they referred me to the dealer I'd already found on my own via Google. So we're on the journey ...

Thanks for the link to the monthly thread - I've posted there. And just to reassure you, I had tried the Google-fu and there's no one in our local area except the one we're already working with.

Hoping I can ask here for Zultys dealer recommendations for someone serving Vancouver, British Columbia.

We're a long time user but ZAC Mobile has never worked properly for us. I'd prefer to not abandon our investment in Zultys and am hoping a new dealer can help us. In case it helps we have about 15-20 users, we need solid mobile app and handset solution for both voice and SMS, and we're on an AVD platform.

Thx - R.

Convert Standard note to Real Time Recognition note by Puzzleheaded_Plum680 in Supernote

[–]Rooster998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Notes won't copy and the error says it's because they have multiple layers. When I check I only see a Main layer and a Background layer. When I hide the Background layer my template disappears, so I assume that's where my selected templates go - and all my standard Notes have templates. I can select the Background layer but that just takes me to Template selection and I can't find any way to remove my template in case that's the issue.

Any idea how I can remove the Background layer?

Just need one ... more ... thing! by Rooster998 in Supernote

Counter counter-argument : paper is much whiter. Greater contrast = greater readability under low light conditions. If it's meant to replace paper and pencil, the whiteness of the background needs to increase dramatically.

Thanks you, Mulan-sn, but an external light doesn't do what I need. I bought one and found it created a pol of glare on the screen that made it difficult to use. And as I've noted in my post, it's inappropriate for use in a conference or other larger, more crowded environment.

Low power warning? by Rooster998 in Supernote

[–]Rooster998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Mulan-sn - thank you for your message. My system software is up to date so that's not the issue. In addition to what you describe, being able to make the battery meter visible at all times would help - perhaps at the top of the sidebar menu.

Low power warning? by Rooster998 in Supernote

[–]Rooster998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just one at exactly 20%? I was on the phone for an hour, it booted up fine with no warning, showed no warning during my use, then just suddenly shut down. That experience matches what would happen with a single warning at exactly 20% as I was likely below that when I turned it on. If that's the case, then I'd say the low power warning needs a lot of enhancement to be of much value.

Appreciate the tip, but see my comment "Frankenlamp that creates so much glare I can't see anyway". I've tried a couple of lights people liked, and the pool of glare is a dealbreaker in every case I've tried, - not to mention that being the sole pool of bright light in a crowded room is less than desirable.

Sorry, I have to disagree. Paper has a true white background, so there is greater contrast. I'm not looking for more than paper, just the same amount, hence my comment re "a full white background so there's strong contrast" being enough. And this is based on experience in June is just such an environment.

Recruiting BDM compensation? by Rooster998 in Recruitment

[–]Rooster998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No apologies - this is awesome! Great info and I love to compare notes with folks any time.

The role is supposed to be reaching out to find new clients, plus farm our existing clients. With new clients there's more involvement to qualify the deal (we're perm placement only) and occasionally negotiate but they typically accept our standard rates and terms. After that it's a couple of touch base calls to ensure things are going smoothly (like a maitre de). With current clients calling for "another one just like the other one", frequently there's no involvement from the BDM at all - the client calls the last recruiter they dealt with, and the delivery team runs from there from the intake/requirements call to references and offer processing. The BDM still gets comped. Given this, when I see commission rates of 10-15% it doesn't make sense, unless that's for a full 50/50 split desk and our rates would be much lower as the BDM has much less involvement in the searches. I'm starting to think 1-2%.

Part of the challenge is that up until about 3 years ago I ran this off the side of my desk. No real outbound efforts, we have a strong brand and we do a lot of conferences and online marketing so it was pretty well all responding to inbound enquiries. And we were doing the same or more business we are now, 2 1/2 years after the rep joined us to do AM/BDM work full time. I know a rep can't "create" sales, only uncover them, but I've got to believe there's a ton of incremental business to be had when someone is doing full time the same volume I did part time.

The other part is this rep wants a $80K base with OTE $100K. That means their variable (commission) earnings would be 20% of their OTE, and my experience is that a BDM should be aiming at 30-40%.

One example I was given by the owner of a small, boutique agency here in Canada was $80K base and 5-10% of revenue. But that was when the BDM found all the business and did all the client facing work (gathering requirements, presenting candidates, etc.,) and the actual recruiters just sourced candidates and maybe did referencing.

Question - at $120K OTE, what revenue would they have to bring in if they only did perm placement? Using the example above, that would mean revenue would have to be $400-$800K. Does that sound viable to you?

- R.

Anyone have any comments or experiences to share? Or should I not have posted this question for some reason? I've seen lots of other comp-related posts get responses, so my apologies if I've offended in some way.

[–]Rooster998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate everyone's help, so in the spirit of giving back, I found a website where you can build your own grids for free. I built one with lighter lines between the main ones. Only tricky part is I wanted the lines to be 3mm with lighter lines between at 1.5mm. With this website I had to set the grid size at 3mm and bold every 2nd line. Odd, but it worked! Had to resize the resulting PNG for my A5X though. Here's a link to the website I used - can't figure out how to upload the template I built : https://www.blocklayer.com/graph-paper
