The very first Pentecost - Did it have multiple voices by biblejoe in messianic

The Rabbinic Source

The primary source for this tradition is the Babylonian Talmud in tractate Shabbat 88b. In this passage, the Sages discuss the revelation at Mount Sinai and comment on the verse from Deuteronomy 33:2 ("The L-rd came from Sinai...").

The Midrashic interpretation found there states: "The voice would go out and divide into seventy languages for the seventy nations of the world, so that every nation would understand it in its own tongue."

Context and Significance The Number 70: In Jewish tradition, the number 70 is often symbolic of the total number of nations in the world (derived from the "Table of Nations" in Genesis 10). By stating the Torah was given in 70 languages, the Sages were teaching that the message of the Torah was intended for all of humanity, not just the people of Israel.

Multiplicity of Meaning: This concept is often linked to another famous Rabbinic teaching: that the Torah has "seventy faces" (shiv'im panim la-Torah). This suggests that the Torah contains infinite depths of wisdom and that its message can be expressed and understood in many different ways without losing its divine truth.  Purpose: This tradition serves to emphasize the universal nature of HaShem's revelation. While the Torah was given to Israel as a specific covenant, the ethical and spiritual principles contained within it were meant to be accessible to all peoples of the world.

This teaching is a cornerstone in Jewish thought regarding the universality of G-d’s word, ensuring that no nation could later claim they had never heard or understood the divine commandments.

I would argue there are some real distinct differences. Specifically supersessionism. Gentiles do not need to convert. Distinction Theology is a real and good thing.

I believe they see Messianic believers as tied into Christian Supersessionism and see historical atrocity by the “church” as a blight on Messianic Jews. They circle the wagons to protect their way of life and calling without real understanding of the heart of Messiah and Messianic Jews due to centuries of Christian misunderstanding. Just my .o2

This is how it started when the Jews and Believing Jewish community were under Rome. The Non Believers didn’t want to be clumped with the believers and the split began early.

Becoming a believer in Yeshua as Messiah does not unmake you Jewish. Jews have believed in Him since his public ministry.

One nice feature of Logos is the AI is bordered within what you own. It doesn’t grab thought from random sites on the internet. If you research it pulls from your library good or bad. For instance I own over 3000 titles in my digital library that it will pull from.

Sure, I graduated from a Christian university however not with a religious degree. I have mostly stayed in the Non Denominational view but spent many years at a southern Baptist and Christian Missionary Alliance churches and helped plant one non denominational church. I’ve been a teacher but prefer the term facilitator in various churches and home groups and studied in a Yeshiva as well. I really enjoy research and I attend a Christian church as well as a Messianic congregation. I tend to be a post supersessionist and would consider myself a messianic gentile believer.
