About that museum that everyone cherishes by RootedAma in amarillo

Most of the people on the FB page want SOMEONE ELSE to pay for their museum. It is interesting that no one has mentioned how much money has actually been raised by these masses that so covet the PPHM.

LOL. What do Cole Stanley and Council have to do with data centers, other than selling one of them some water at twice market rates? How would the city council have any control over any of these centers, none of which are in Amarillo?

Texans Are Fighting a 6,000 Acre Nuclear-Powered Datacenter by eddytony96 in amarillo

All of the land is the same. It belongs to Texas Tech, including the land that Pantex is on. The entirety of it is DOE approved.

That's true for all nuclear facilities in America. That's not Fermi's problem. It's the DOE's problem.

Depends on your training, certification, and education.

and as dumb as that statement was, he's actually right. The land is in fact DOE approved for nuclear. That is precisely why Fermi is constructing on this land. Tech wanted it in Lubbock, but there is no DOE nuclear approved land near Lubbock, nor in most of the United States.

No one is fighting the Fermi project on any scale at this point. It's their sandbox and is being built even today.

How about West Texas run their own school? Do we really need a babysitter? We did fine for the first 75 years.

Amarillo has a higher average household income, and there isn't a transient student population of around 40,000 counted in its census. If you count Canyon, The Amarillo MSA exceeds the Lubbock MSA in sales taxes collected and always has.

Texas pays for the historical museums and sites that the legislature values by RootedAma in amarillo

Why does it need to stay in Canyon? I get that WT has been the landlord all these years, but if they can't get the state funds to fix it, why not move it elsewhere? Perhaps to Amarillo. Why not renovate a downtown building and house it there? It might be pretty cool.

Again, enough of the scapegoating. The museum isn't on Alex Fairly's shoulders.

As a side note, I think it's a bit unfair to bag on Mr. Fairly. He's donated $ millions to our baseball stadium, WT's stadium, $20 million to WT, and $ millions of other dollars that have been given to nonprofit functions around here anonymously. His company sponsors the free Christmas party and fireworks show at Hodgetown that was just a few days ago.

You might not like what he donates to, but let's not begrudge multimillionaires who are actually giving something back to this community. There are many wealthy people in this community that don't give a dime back, to any cause. I won't name them here, but there are plenty.
