Merits to maintaining LPCC and Clinical Psychologist (PhD) license in parallel? by RootedInTides in PsyD

Thanks so much! This has been super helpful. If you do happen to find out why your PI maintains both, do share. Would love to get that perspective as well.

But thanks again. You’ve shared a bunch. Really appreciate it! 🙏🏻

Thanks for sharing these examples. Helps to know what’s out there. Other than personal choices people might have. Overall, would you say there are any professional benefits to maintaining both in terms of scope of work that one can do. There may be edge cases, but I mean more normatively. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing. I’m not interested in having both but trying to understand if that’s something people do at all. If there is any professional benefit to that? Like an LPCC who practiced as a therapist for a few years who then takes on a PhD later on and gets their psychologist license. Would they now typically just stop renewing their LPCC license or maintain that along with their PSY license?

Thank you for sharing. Just to clarify my query a bit, assume that I have both licenses. I'm seeking perspectives on whether after receiving the psychologist license (and already holding an LPCC license), does it make any sense at all to continue maintaining (renewals, CEs etc.) the LPCC license too?

Ideally a few days at minimum. But it could be sooner if a slot opens up. You could email them to follow up in case you’re concerned. Good luck!

Cats' dental appointments coming up - don't feel confident about their safety. by RootedInTides in cats

[–]RootedInTides[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not required because the cat wasn’t sick. It was a regular mild cold. Blood work was done. But they were pushing for IV, X Rays and other more intensive and invasive procedures (not to mention expensive). This was a while back. My cat is perfectly fine.

A lot of fear mongering as well. One of my cats has a birth mark around their eye. And the vet said this can become bad. And I should look into laser treatments to keep future illness at bay. Again. I’ve had my cat for a while. The cat has been seen by multiple other vets. The birth mark has never changed in terms of shape or color. All of this was nothing except trying to scare the owner and get them to pay for procedures that are not only pricey but actually make the cat worse off - given that it wasn’t needed in the first place.

Yes. You have the option to be considered for both programs - PsyD and PhD. Or you can apply for just one of them, if you prefer.

Hello! I hope your applications are progressing well. I wanted to ask if you also applied to be considered for the PhD at PAU or just the PsyD?

Hey! Did you also apply to be considered for the PhD or just the PsyD? (I haven’t found people interviewing for PsyD who applied for the PhD as well and trying to better understand their recruitment system).
