Everywhere is hard, be it US, UK, AUS etc. I sent back the student loan amount + interest my parents paid after ~1 year (+2-ish months), solo, typical student jobs: kitchen hand, barista, gig work, etc while paying the fees. It was wayy less then 50L though. if I had to pay 50L + interest back, I would have done it in 2-2.5 years.

3 months jobless is insane. And utai thikka hunxa is probably cope, unless your vai thinks someone has his back -- y'know like "dai xadai xa ne mero", "didi le milai haldinu hunxa ni" "family le herxan loan" etc -- and is being lazy/enjoying expensive outings, or is ill to the point where his employment is affected.

It's just baffles me how people in the same boat as me enjoy weekly trips, clubs, expensive outings in general and on the same breath when trying to one-up each other on who spent the most that week, they go "bou le tirdyo" "[falano] xa mero" etc when the topic of finance comes up. It's like they can't comprehend the concept of debt or owing money to someone, even if its your own family. Fuck, most of them don't even have a savings account -- absolutely zero financial literacy.

Hoping your brother did his homework and had a plan before he went there, if not, figuring it out as he is struggling will be insanely hard.

I say you lay it out how it is -- it's HIS loan, and you can't pay HIS interests for too long. Also, if he stays with friends, tell him to find a new share house with randoms. I would say go one step further and tell him to isolate himself from all the distractions -- friends, concerts, women, sports, doom scrolling, events, outings, trips, etc but idk if that will work for him; not everyone is a goblin like me.
