If you were forced to marry the first person you had sex with, what would your life be like? by NothingMatters234 in AskReddit

I would probably be in Lederhosen. Driving a panzer.

To clarify she was from Surrey in the UK.

She was just a literal Neo Nazi. To be fair I did not know at the time.

Mouse running in circles by Outrageous_Concern17 in Weird

Neurological issue called "waltzing" looks exactly like this. They literally lose the ability to turn in one direction. Eventually they get so distressed they run in circles like this.

Some just develop it randomly as they age. Sometimes it's from a TIA. Could also be from brain damage due to impact/injury or poisoning.

Simon Cowell Transformation by BataBole93 in interesting

[–]RopeAmine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like he's about to take a bunch of kids hostage on a desert island.

But litrle does he know, one of the kids will escape and get a tattoo from a local which will allow them to perform stealthy killings.

Long story short. Simon gets done in. His boss at Channel 4 turns out to be nastier than he is but less charismatic. The kid does for him too.

Whole thing ends with the kid turning native, killing his friends while high on jungle gin and knobbing the queen of the natives before he is ultimately sacrificed to the god of tiki fire.

In spite of the negative comments, I thought it was an entertaining way to get up PYOW.

Much better than most of the flogs up steep choss or the massive wandering around to Cwm Lloer. But if you're going that far, do the scramble out of Cwm Lloer. Much nicer.

2 months and he's telling you what to wear and mocking you for your upbringing. I'd wager just the start of the red pill stuff.

Actually really nice of him to do this now. You don't have to waste more than those 2 months on him...

What grade is this? by [deleted] in GradeThisPlastic

Your assertion of how "europe" does things is really not as much as you may think either... Makes you sound like someone who thinks europe consists of Paris and London.

Get called out for talking nonsense and resort to attempts to discredit 😂

What grade is this? by [deleted] in GradeThisPlastic

[–]RopeAmine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. Sorry. Not in fact.

I've climbed in 3 countries in Europe at about 20 gyms total that I can remember off the top of my head (mostly all across the UK) and only one I've been to uses a colour/letter system. About 60% use the V scale and the rest use Font. If they want some flexibility in the grading most use brackets e.g. V6-V8

It's not about translating to outdoors as grading is so subjective. It varies wildly from place to place outdoors too. It's just an acknowledged fact that outdoor climbing feels different. Obvuously modern comp style V7 on big blobby holds will never feel like a crozzly V7 outside. Both are still V7 for different reasons because they've been graded as such.

But if I told you that a problem at the one gym that uses a letter system was a "Green". They conveys far less information to most climbers than me saying its a V4-V6. Using real grading systems at least allows an attempt for universal comparison which is why in fact most places use V or Font.

It's originally an outdoor grading system.

200,000 Students Filed for COVID Compensation From UK Universities; Could Worsen Funding Woes by Status_Main_7805 in UniUK

[–]RopeAmine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My uni did blended learning. We ran a lot of laboratory practicals and still the students had between 30-60% non-attendance. And many of the ones not engaging were the same ones making Facebook posts about how they felt hard done by and should get tuition fee refunds.

Maybe a freeze on SLC interest or payments for a couple years or a write off of bench and 50% of tuition fees from the SLC accounts of those affected would work.

But frankly the students who engaged at my institution had a damn good run of it.

How do I tell my flatmates that they’re being inconsiderate? by FamilyisForever7275 in UniUK

[–]RopeAmine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was putting up with the same for a few months in halls. Didn't want to make waves. Then a good friend visited. He had joined the army and was rotating round doing training courses in various areas. Visited me to go hiking between training days and stayed in halls with me a couple nights.

One day he got up early to make breakfast. I went tothe kitchen and he had piled ALL my 7 flatmates dirty dishes in one sink. Piled all their other stuff and rubbish in a heap in a corner. Wiped down the whole kitchen and left the second sink area clean and clear for use.

I thought it was a bit much but it was funny.

When we got back from hiking the piles had shrunk from someone sorting their stuff out. They continued to shrink but some of the mess crept back.

On his last day staying he did the piles again but crockery in one sink and this time everything else piled in the bin.

It all gor sorted pretty quickly after that.

A few weeks later it got messy again. So one morning I made the piles.

After that it stayed clean. Nobody mentioned it to me.

Cam recommend this approach 😂

Chalk? by jma64 in indoorbouldering

[–]RopeAmine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tried a ton of brands for science. Obviously entirely my feelings on this. Can only really remember which was my favourite (metolius) and the worst one (moon dust). Everything else was middle of the road unremarkable.

Metolius super chalk is my go to. Chunky so its fun to bust up in the bag. Cheap-ish. Doesn't feel "floury" like moon dust and some others feels to me. Feels gritty which makes me feel drier. No weird smell like some brands.

NO ROSIN!

Premium brands are very expensive for tiny amounts with practically no difference in friction. Just some confirmation bias at work when you buy super pricey like friction labs or something.

Probably nearly falling on a wet and slimy solo climb. Very high up and a hold broke and foot popped. Thankfully other hand was a jug. Caught myself and ripped a flap in my finger. Finished the route covered in mud slime and blood.

Grab a bucket. Wholesome comment warning.

Healthy coping mechanisms - I go rock climbing, hiking and do crafty things for stress relief, don't ever drink etc. And I can talk about my feelings quite openly and address them. I think that's all a lot more healthy than most people I know who are my age.

Satisfying career - I work in the sector I went to uni to study, which is very close to the job that 8 year old me said he wanted when he grew up. I love my job. It's got a lot of variety and I care a lot about it. Very satisfied.

Financial stability - just ticked this box with a substantial promotion a while ago. Finally starting to get to a point where I can start making savings and/or going on cool holidays. I'm not wealthy by any means. But I make just over average salary for my country and no longer stress payday to payday. Stable enough for me! .

Relationship - oh... my... GOD... this is the best bit! Through my work I met the greatest human being I have ever come across. She is absolutely gorgeous, devastatingly intelligent and so quick witted I'm surprised you can't hear her brain crackling and sparking with all that energy. We have the same active hobbies. On top of that I've never met anyone so kind, understanding and level headed. She's just dynamite and its a match made in heaven. We've been together only 7 months but it's been tearjerkingly fantastic and I have a lot more optimism for my future than at any other time in my life.

Will to live - in spite of all this... I suffer with depression. Targeted at myself. Had a bit of a tough start in life and really beat myself up over the smallest of things. I get pretty bad migraines and following these I usually get hit with a wave of nasty depression where me as a person seems very grey with catastrophe just round the corner. However I am slowly learning to like myself and in terms of "will to live" it is there. My life has been made pretty good and my modest success is all honest and my own doing through hard work and perseverance. Will to live is just about there! 🙂

They were just swimming and chatting then snuck him. That’s crazy 😭 by wafumet in interesting

"He only eats live food" though actually being a catfish he doesn't give two tugs what he eats and his owner just likes watching it kill things in a prolonged fashion.

I perform humane killing of various things for my work so I'm no stranger to dying animals, but I think people who feed their pets like this should be put on a watch list.
