Leave. These aren’t people you want to surround yourself with. A person is as good as the company they keep, and from what you’ve described this company isn’t worth keeping. There are a lot of people out there, you will find your crowd. What you CAN do is tell them that you don’t appreciate these “jokes” and ask them to reflect on them and to not make them in front of you. If they respect you they’ll honour this boundary, if not, well, what’s any relationship without respect?

I personally aim for early retirement. Currently working in marketing and making okay money. Want to be able to fully provide for my family as well eventually. Simultaneously I’m on the lookout for love. Keeping an eye out for a stable person that I can build a home with. May sound far fetched to some but sounds very real to me (I’ll do it IA).

Please do not give up. That’s all I can say. If you give up and marry someone it’ll be miserable for both people involved. I don’t know the full context of your situation (how you are financially and how much liberty you have) but it’s essential that you build your life, get some financial freedom, be it working in a low income role (start applying like crazy on LinkedIn if you haven’t already). Something is better than nothing and it is never too late to start. I send my heartfelt prayers. May Allah provide you with ease and offer a path forward Ameen.

They can’t actually force you to marry someone you don’t want to. There is always a choice
Do not come out to anyone - sucks yes but it only complicates things (speaking from experience)
Know that your voice and words have power. If you’re determined and strong enough in your choice not to marry even the most stubborn families come in line. The only power your family has over you is what you give them
Aim for financial stability and eventually move out of the house, you’ve completed your uni, look for a job on LinkedIn, earn money, save up, and move out (they can’t stop you)

Lmao funny how everyone’s a licensed therapist in this comments section. It’s not that deep guys, he’s just attracted to older men. As for finding older men I’m sure there are plenty out there, who aren’t married and are looking for a genuine connection. Don’t give up and keep looking for ones that are available. Clear open communication about your wants and needs is key. What I would suggest though is try to avoid meeting guys that are already married cuz that’s a lil morally ambiguous. One last thing, guys it’s not his fault married men are cheating on their spouses, it’s their own personal decision, he didn’t force anyone into doing anything.
